Comment: Open to any hook rewrites for interest and clarity.
ALT1: ... that when John Mahon sold the American League's Baltimore Orioles to Andrew Freedman, owner of the National League's New York Giants, Freedman raided Baltimore's best players?
On the other hand, maybe these articles should be merged in with the related hook, Template:Did you know nominations/Joe McGinnity, Joe Kelley, Cy Seymour, Dan McGann, Jack Cronin, 1902 Baltimore Orioles season Never mind, that one will go up separately.

Not sure if the author should get credit for one DYK or two. Freedman was expanded 5X and Mahon is new, but both were expanded with text that is substantially similar. I'll leave the decision on the number of DYKs given to the closing editor. Meanwhile, the hook is definitely interesting and checks out with the sources. Both articles are long enough, though Mahon is just barely so. QPQ reviews have been done. Acdixon ^{(talk · contribs)} 17:39, 17 April 2012 (UTC)

Some similarity is unavoidable, since this hook refers to one incident that both men were involved in. I agree that the articles contained text that was too similar, so I've partially rewritten Andrew Freedman to be a bit unique. – Muboshgu (talk) 18:02, 17 April 2012 (UTC)
