  • As usual, a thorough, well-written, well-researched and interesting article. Partial AGF on offline/pay-for-view sources, but the subject and the assertions made in the article were verified through the Andrews and Hutson publications. Hook is interesting, referenced, image is suitable and properly licensed. QPQ review is still pending. One issue, though: since the authorship is not 100% certain, and since there do appear to have been additions by squatters, why not qualify or include this information into the hook? Either by saying that "most graffiti" was produced by the elites, or by adding that some of it was added by squatters after the buildings were abandoned. And a minor quibble, which does not affect the nomination: as the chronology of the Maya is largely unknown to the general public, I'd suggest including the dates to which the various periods (early Classic, post-Classic, etc) correspond.
