Merger proposal[edit]

Zimbabwean bond coins > Zimbabwean bonds
Since the Zimbabwean government has now introduced bond notes I suggest the coins article be merged with this more general article about 'bonds'. Tsange (Talk) 21:29, 2 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Similar to other types of currency the main article is Zimbabwean bonds with individual articles for Zimbabwean bond coins and Zimbabwean bond notes. Tsange (Talk) 14:21, 9 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Renaming and merger proposals[edit]

I propose a major reorganisation of articles to accommodate the Zimbabwean bond dollar. The changes proposed are as follows:

  1. Rename Zimbabwean bonds to Zimbabwean bond currency, to reflect the original objective of the bond coins and notes to be used as currency at par with the US dollar.
  2. Merge Zimbabwean bond notes and Zimbabwean bond coins into Zimbabwean bond currency, because the bond coins and notes have only one version each, which is not sufficient to warrant their own articles.
  3. Rename Banknotes of Zimbabwe to Banknotes of Zimbabwe (1980–2009), and move details about the bond notes to Zimbabwean bond currency, because there was a long gap between the last Zimbabwean dollar and the start of the bond currency.

What is most needed is an overview article on Zimbabwian currencies. We don't need this for most countries, but Zimbabwe is more complex than most.

So, should one of the existing articles be this? If so its name should reflect this.

Proposal currently reads in part Merge Zimbabwean bond notes and Zimbabwean bond notes... which I think should read Merge Zimbabwean bond notes and Zimbabwean bond coins...

More work required on the proposal before any moves or merges are actually performed. Andrewa (talk) 01:15, 17 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I wish to address each issue one part at a time for sake of simplicity. I think, currency of Zimbabwe could be a root article that provides a general overview. The resultant tree could be like:
  • Currency of Zimbabwe
    • Zimbabwean dollar
      • Banknotes of the Zimbabwean dollar
    • Zimbabwean bond currency
If the Zim-dollar is reintroduced, the tree would be:
  • Currency of Zimbabwe
    • Zimbabwean dollar (1980–2009)
      • Banknotes of the Zimbabwean dollar
    • Zimbabwean dollar (20XX–present) Replace "20XX" with year of reintroduction.
    • Zimbabwean bond currency
My main concern about Banknotes of Zimbabwe is that it is already very long, and it may become overwhelming if more generations of currencies are added.
Thoughts? Note that I am around, but just doing things a bit slowly since I have other things in real life. --Marianian(talk) 12:35, 22 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose but would not object to further relisting. The proposal of which this is part is not, in my opinion, well thought out. See discussion above. Andrewa (talk) 01:07, 17 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
