I can't be bothered to add right now but here's some interviews with stuff about personality/development: http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/soaps/a131934/nina-wadia-zainab-masood-eastenders.html and http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/soaps/a152823/a-quick-chat-with-enders-actress-nina-wadia.html AnemoneProjectors (what?) 22:30, 24 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A Re-Class?[edit]

I don't exactly get how the class system works *blushes* but I think this is a very informative article, especially since the creation and reception sections have been expanded, surely this is more than a C-Class article? Alex250P (talk) 00:49, 5 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I would still say it's C-class. B-class is meant to be very close to GA-class. I think if a good lead section was written then perhaps we could re-class it. Also the sources above need to be included. Shame the BBC interviews have all vanished - that source has gone forever! AnemoneProjectors (talk) 01:16, 5 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Pregnancy[edit]

Anyone got a source to say that Zainab's pregnancy has lasted 10 months? It is possible to (reverse-)SORAS a pregnancy?! AnemoneProjectors (talk) 18:45, 18 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Former name[edit]

Just a quick thought - is it perhaps in-universe to open with Zainab's former married name, given that she was never called Khan on EastEnders? I think it leans towards treating her as a real person, rather than a character who has only ever been known as Zainab Masood. The same probably applies for a few other characters as well. Frickative 21:00, 25 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, names that have never been used for the character in the programme should be removed. So that would go for Peggy Martin, Pat Harris, Denise Turner, Kathy Hills and many others. We ought to discuss this at WT:EE really, but it has my total support. AnemoneProjectors 21:07, 25 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Isn't it the same when using 'nee' though (When the maiden name was used in a programme previously), that's suggesting the character is a real person too. ..so I don't think any of the opening lines are ever wrote for the fiction really...RAIN..the..ONE HOTLINE 21:23, 25 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Do you think we should just say "previously" instead of "née" because they're not born, just created and appear as an adult, prior to which they have no existence in the EastEnders-universe? But if Lucy Beale, for example, got married, then she was actually born in the show. Again, I always refer to Bree Van de Kamp. Dunno why I picked her but she's my example! Perhaps I should find a GA as a better example. AnemoneProjectors 22:10, 25 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm, I think the "née" issue is possibly one that goes a bit deeper, because if we're saying that the characters typically aren't 'born' as such, then displaying a DOB in the infobox is equally in-universe. I know the main Infobox:character template deprecated the DOB parameter for that reason. Shall I cross-post this discussion to the project talk page? Frickative 13:48, 26 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Can do. Every character has a backstory though. Don't think we should lose the DOB. It's in the in-universe section of the infobox, and each EastEnders episode is roughly set on the day it's broadcast, so the characters age as we age. But you know, I'm more and more thinking the template should have been merged lol AnemoneProjectors 14:16, 26 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I keep thinking myself round in circles on the DOB issue, but tbh that's really not the can of worms I wanted to open here, so I'm just going to sidestep and pretend I didn't bring it up! I think using "née" could go either way, but I'm ever-so-slightly leaning towards it being acceptable. Using Bianca as a random example, no, she wan't "born" Bianca Jackson, but she was created as a Jackson and became a Butcher through marriage, so from a real-world perspective, "née" would be the correct terminology to describe that relationship. Whereas Zainab wasn't created as a Kahn and has never been called a Kahn on EastEnders, so to say "Zainab Masood (previously Kahn)" is above all else untrue. I hope that makes something resembling sense. I probably shouldn't try and Wiki at 3am. Frickative 03:08, 30 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Agree that you shouldn't try and Wiki at 3am – Bianca would have been born a Branning or a Wicks ;-) AnemoneProjectors 03:28, 30 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
But yeah, I agree that names not used in the show shouldn't be put in the lead, though we can use "née" if it's a maiden name. Plus, it's Khan :-P AnemoneProjectors 03:31, 30 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
LOL, this is why I try to avoid the mainspace at this hour. Fail. But as long as the basic point got across, it's all good :) Frickative 03:37, 30 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I've got to stop editing at this hour and start going to sleep at 2am like I used to :-) AnemoneProjectors 04:10, 30 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

When was Zainab married?[edit]

How can anyone be so sure they were married from 1977 until 1983 or whatever it was? Just because she was 15, doesn't mean she married in the year she turned 15, it could have been the year she turned 16. Are we even sure she was born in 1962? How do we know she married Masood in 1983? –AnemoneProjectors– 15:30, 2 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure about her marriage to Yusef, although I remember them stating when they were about to go travelling (just before she discovered she was pregnant with Kamil) that they had been married 26 years and this was in August 2009. Alex250P (talk) 15:27, 3 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Have they ever celebrated a wedding anniversary? I bet someone remembers. –AnemoneProjectors– 15:44, 5 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

In the divorce papers Masood was reading, it cited that Masood and Zainab married on 28 January 1983. As for her marriage to Yusef I would have said 1977/78 but we can't be sure. --80.5.133.45 (talk) 09:38, 30 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Zainab's new name[edit]

Shouldn't her name be Zainab Yusef and not Zainab Khan? Arjoccolenty (talk) 18:13, 10 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Does the credits at the end of the episode say Zainab Yusef? No they say Zainab Khan and Yusef called her Mrs. Khan during the episode. So no, her name is Zainab Khan. GSorbyPing! 20:52, 10 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The Khans are clearly not as traditional as the Masoods, or Afia would have been called Afia Yusef. We already know this! And what GS said. Watch the show properly :P –AnemoneProjectors– 14:31, 11 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
OK. Frst of all,the two of you don't have to be so fucking rude about it because right now, you came off as asswipes. And second, I wasn't watching back then. So watch your tone. Jerks. Arjoccolenty (talk)
In reply, you don't have to use a personal attack when our replies weren't even rude. In fact never use personal attacks. AnemoneProjectors' and my own reply were in no way rude. GSorbyPing! 21:00, 11 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
My comment was clearly tongue in cheek but I apologise for any upset caused. –AnemoneProjectors– 13:13, 12 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Widow[edit]

Was there any talk of dissolving the marriage betwen Yusef and Zainab before he died? Or were they still legally married and making Zainab a widow? Arjoccolenty (talk) 04:42, 28 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

They were still both legally and religiously married, as far as viewers are aware. –AnemoneProjectors– 13:32, 30 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
There's no doubt that legally they were still married, so there isn't an issue here.Rain the 1 13:34, 30 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
However, I've changed it to wife as it's representing the WHOLE thing, not just "now"! –AnemoneProjectors– 15:18, 30 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
