Initial try[edit]

I looked for this case after being reminded about it in reading Lewis v. Harris, but realized that the article didn't exist. It isn't nearly as important as some other marriage cases (for example Loving v. Virginia and Turner v. Safley), but it's decently important.

It would probably be a good idea if someone could go through this and edit my grammar (it's quite atrocious!) and if someone can make sure that this is making sense. I have very limited experience in reading and analyzing cases (luckily I know enough about this topic that I can understand what I'm reading), so it's quite possible that I'm not saying what I mean or I'm saying things that are absolutely wrong.

There are a lot of footnotes (although the history and opinion of the court may not actually be footnoted enough). I put the footnotes at the very bottom so they wouldn't get of the external links. It probably violates some style convention, but fifteen footnotes is probably too many to wade through to get to the bottom.
