Political Connections Controversy[edit]

The following memo from the New York Times has some great resources on the political influence of Yucaipa

Inner City Broadcasting[edit]

Bloomberg is naming this company as the main creditor that has filed an involuntary bankruptcy petition against Inner City media, the owner of Urban radio stations WLIB-AM and WBLS-FM in New York City. Inner City owes at least $254 million. Magic Johnson got involved with the company back in May to try to save Inner City.

Current holdings[edit]

It is not clear what their current holdings are. They sold Ralphs and Food For Less. The investment history does not mention that Alpha Beta Markets and Boys Markets were merged into Ralphs, or something like that. 71.160.14.131 (talk) 20:34, 10 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I've noted the rebranding of Alpha Beta and Boys based on what it already said on the Boys Markets article. With regards to current holdings, as a private equity company they're neither obliged nor is it in their interest to declare their holdings. AFA Foods/Pink Slime[edit]

The section for Aloha Airlines has an orphaned paragraph about Yucaipa holding AFA Foods, makers of “lean finely textured beef”, aka pink slime.

"Controversy" Section[edit]

The section titled "Controversy" mentions that Bill Clinton was a friend of the founder and acted as an advisor after his presidency ended, and that the Clintons received income from the company during the 2000's. It's unclear from this paragraph what controversy exists. I suggest someone describe what the controversy is, if there is one, or that we retitle the section (Maybe "Celebrity Connections", or "Famous Investors"?).
