Untitled[edit]

Aaah most of this article reads like BS (most wiki articles do though), not that it may not be true but some references and citations would be extremely necessary! I also think a {{Story}} warning may be called for, but I'm not a stickler for wiki quility (if any).--BerserkerBen 13:14, 27 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Edits and Cuts[edit]

I found this article and worked on it a bit. The beginning was just cleaned up a bit--language clarified, etc. I made it clearer in the Donnie section that the story comes from the manga. I cut a LOT out of the descriptions of the OAV and TV series, which featured overly detailed and, in many cases, irrelevant plot description that I did not feel was appropriate for a character page. I tried to make the focus on what was important in reflecting Yomiko's character, without being ridiculously spoileriffic. I think it's cool if someone wants to re-add more detail, but it should remain focused on Yomiko's character, not what generally happens in the series, and even with a spoiler warning, I think it would be kinder to readers not to completely ruin every plot twist that appears in the anime. As it is, the cuts I made could still be taken a step further and be refined more, especially in the OAV section.

I am wondering if the Donnie Nakajima should be similarly edited--or separated into its own article? The description of Donnie spoils much of the events of the R.O.D manga; while it may be useful to provide information in this somewhat obscure character here on Wikipedia, I wonder if it should be this detailed? Especially since the events in the manga may not precisely apply to events in the other iterations of R.O.D.

Finally--anyone familiar with the novels? If so, brief comments on her character development in the novels would probably be a good idea.

This is a stupid suggestion, but i couldn't help but notice that no one has put that Yomiko, my love, has self-esteem issues in the series. she is less charasmatic and honstly seems to have lost most signs of happiness.
Also, she has grown weaker since she required young anitas help to make her famous paper airplane fly once again. I'd do it, but im afraid i might mess it up. if someone wont do it , then i'll just take it upon myself.

Yomiko's "self-esteem" issues are related directly to events happening in the OAV and TV series; though her personality overall could be better described in this article. Something I'll need to think about before attempting. As for Yomiko's powers, Yomiko demonstrates a number of times that her power or equal to or greater than that of what it is in the OAV, including her self-flown "paper rocket" she uses to get her and Anita back to Saitama after their sabotage spree in Tokyo (the second time they work together). Therefore, I've always assumed that Yomiko either genuinely needed Anita to fly the plane simply so she could focus on the tracking device, or she faked needing Anita's help in order to prove to Anita that she was more powerful and versatile than Anita gave herself credit for (which works, more or less). Either way, Yomiko seems intent on teaching Anita. DeathQuaker 02:47, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
This could use a little editing for clarity. I can't tell if she's alive or dead. Teflon Don 08:58, 30 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, here's a big fat reorganization to match other R.O.D articles and further provide more info (while yet also trimming the massive plot summaries that should stay in the respective articles about the different series). Definitely needs another pair of eyes to further clean up. Also, WE STILL NEED PEOPLE KNOWLEDGABLE OF THE NOVELS to add their insights. Thanks!! DeathQuaker (talk) 17:26, 2 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Characters[edit]

Hi all, I'm just going to start a list page of characters from all R.O.D manga an anime and may link off articles like this to it. I think this would be a good idea but if you have thoughts please contact. ætərnal ðrAعon 09:57, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:DONNIE!WIKI!UWAAHsuucute!.jpg[edit]

Image:DONNIE!WIKI!UWAAHsuucute!.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Small[edit]

Isn't this article kind of underdeveloped compared to the other main characters in the R.O.D. series(i.e. Anita, Maggie and Michelle)? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.251.125.84 (talk) 18:24, 25 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Then add to it!! - DeathQuaker (talk) 20:55, 26 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I leave that up to people who actually have accounts. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.251.125.84 (talk) 17:07, 1 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Then get an account. If you feel strongly enough to comment, you should feel strongly enough to contribute. Wikipedia doesn't work if people don't join in. Maybe there's material that you think should be in there that other editors have no idea about. Maybe you've even, say, read the novels, which few of us have? (And one of the reasons why this article gets abandoned.) We can't telepathically glean such info from you.
Now, for the record, I do plan on getting some work done on this article, just as I've been slowly cleaning up other bio pages. It needs some serious reorganization for one thing. But I may not add the information that YOU want to see. In Wikipedia, the only way to guarantee that is do it yourself. Of course, someone else may come along and undo the edit, but... that's also part of the territory. ;) DeathQuaker (talk) 15:41, 2 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I have changed the manga section a little bit, it seems to be too much unnecessary spoiler for now though. The story in the manga and the novel is totally different, on Donnie's mission and Ridley's interference and such. In the novel it is only about Donnie not performing a mission that is similar to others he finished without and trouble. The mission is the burning of books of a collector who is a British noble. The noble refused to let the British Library to collect the books, and the Library feels that if it could not be collected, it cannot exist. Thus ordering Donnie to burn them. Donnie failed to do so even he burned lots of books before due to Yomiko. He went to notify the noble to escape to non western influenced places with the books and called for a fire ambulance to fake the mission was failed because of an early discover of the fire. How and why Yomiko killed him is still not covered in the novel, in which would possibly be covered in volume 12(announced to be the last volume) if anything would be said about the event. Ridley W. never appeared in the novel until now, and he is considered the dark side of The Paper, which will cover up for missions The Paper will not perform, like assassination. Concerning this, in the novel, it is very clearly stated that Yomiko got a double o number, licensed to kill. MythSearchertalk 19:34, 2 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks a lot, Mythsearcher. I tightened this up, but I left in the information that Donnie's reasons for failure differ from the novel and manga--and my understanding is Yomiko still killed him in self-defense either way. If I'm wrong, just shorten it to Yomiko killed him. Some of your descriptions of the novels and manga should go into the Read or Die page--if I recall correctly, that could use some fleshing out, especially regarding summaries of the novels, which are really lacking. DeathQuaker (talk) 19:47, 7 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for tightening it up, I suck at writing. I got the novels 1~11, and is kinda losing hope for 12. In the manga, Yomiko did not kill Donnie, Joker(or other library staff under Joker) did. The one who attacked Yomiko is Ridley, who has expertized in disguises with paper. Ridley still got the wounds by Yomiko self defenses. The whole show was set up by Joker to get Yomiko's power to surface and getting her to be the next The Paper. So in the manga, she did not killed Donnie, or anyone at all. "Paper Master" vs. "papermaster"[edit]

There's some inconsistency in this article and other R.O.D articles between the usage of the term "Paper Master" (two separate words, often capitalized) and "papermaster" (the two words joined together, no capitalization). The Wikipedia article that defines papermaster does the latter, but I think the majority of media on R.O.D in English uses "Paper Master." We need to pick one and stick with it. If I hear some kind of consensus, I'll fix it in this and other articles. DeathQuaker (talk) 19:51, 7 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I would go for two words, Paper Master. Since the wiki article is only about R.O.D characters, which would be rather not notable and may get deleted any time. Even if the article is to be kept, wiki guidelines to naming conventions go for the official and common one. So if you think the majority uses Paper Master, I would say Paper Master it should be. Bibliomania[edit]

The word Bibliomania is the exact wording used by the author(rendered in Katakana ビブリオマニア on top of the kanji 愛書狂) she is NOT a bibliophile. In the novel, there is also plot stating she buy 2 copies of the books on a special list she maintains and repeatedly bought the same book over and over in different stores and at a large quantity to a point where all the bookstore keepers can all regconize her appearance.(Not the OVA display poster) —Preceding signed comment added by MythSearchertalk 06:10, 3 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
