The second paragraph of this article is copied word for word from the Smithsonian Web site, [1], without attribution. It furthermore refers to a specific photograph that appears on the original Web site, without which the reference to "this machine, number 517 off the assembly line" makes no sense.

Agreed. Much of second half relating to that should be cut, perhaps copied to Discussion sections of Chester Carlson &/or Xerox.

Plain paper and chronology?[edit]

"The Xerox 914 was the first successful commercial plain paper copier which in 1959"

"In 1963, Xerox introduced the first desktop copier to make copies on plain paper, the 813."

So when did plain paper copying start? 1959 or 1963? Was it the 813 or the 914? Did the 813 pre- or post-date the 914, as the numbers suggest? Andy Dingley (talk) 21:10, 14 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
