Speedwell[edit]

Are we sure that Mirtle was with the Bengal Pilot Service and not the Bombay Marine? The Speedwell that fits his dates is the Speedwell grab of the Bombay Marine. It was built in 1757 by the Bombay Dockyard and three French warships captured it in 1762.Acad Ronin (talk) 12:45, 8 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the comment. All of the reference documentation I have on the Speedwell is that it was a snow rigged ship, but Mirtle could have definitely been in the Bombay Marine. I don't have any verifiable proof one way or the other, so I'll leave it as it is until I can get some more information. Mirtlem (talk) 13:25, 8 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Added the possibility that he could have been with the Bombay Marine. Once I have reliable information for one or the other, I will apply changes. Mirtlem (talk) 15:10, 8 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. Right now I have the issue on the "Long-term Dither" setting. I dithering between either removing the link to the list of pilot vessels or adding Mirtle's Speedwell to the list. The snow vs grab is a non-issue. Grabs were hybrids - Indian Ocean hull form with European brig or snow rigging. Cheers, Acad Ronin (talk) 16:01, 8 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
