The most recent biography of Hickok, Tom Clavin's "Wild Bill: The true story of the American frontier's first gunfighter" (St. Martin's Press, New York, 2019) makes no mention whatsoever of any alleged petrification. While Clavin reports Utter's return three years after Hickok's burial to supervise the movement of the body, there is no trustworthy evidence that the coffin was opened. The Coronado Mercury edition of 17 May 1888 (almost ten years after the reburial) reported that it had been opened, but cited no sources. I added two new reference books to this article: Tom Clavin's "Wild Bill: The true story of the American frontier's first gunfighter" and Linda Fisher and Carrie Bower's biography of Hickok's widow, Agnes Lake: "Agnes Lake Hickok: Queen of the Circus, Wife of a Legend". Corrections to date and title of show[edit]

Corrected date and title of Hickok's creation of his Niagara Falls show, "The Daring Buffalo Chase of the Plains". The show was created in 1872, after his tenure as town marshal of Abilene, Kansas, and after meeting his future wife, circus proprietor Agnes Lake.
