Edit request[edit]

The station is open now, according tohttp://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/hamilton/news/first-commuters-ride-go-from-hamilton-s-new-west-harbour-station-1.3144602 and other sources, and the article should reflect that

No COI, so removed the COI edit request. Joseph2302 (talk) 00:02, 12 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Lakeshore West stopping pattens[edit]

@Secondarywaltz: There are 3 distinct service patterns on Lakeshore West: Local (to Aldershot at all times), Express (to Niagara Falls or Hamilton Centre during peak periods) and Niagara (to Niagara Falls summer weekends/holidays). The Express makes all stops from Niagara or Hamilton to Clarkson, then non-stop to Toronto, while the Niagara makes limited stops the entire way from Niagara Falls to Toronto. When GO extended one of the Express trips beyond West Harbour to Niagara Falls, someone erroneously added stations to the Niagara Branch line navigators whereas they should instead have extended the Express service to Niagara. Note that West Harbour is no longer the terminus of any of the service types, it is merely a short-turn location (similar to how some local services only operate between Toronto and Oakville). I see three options to correct the inaccuracy:
1. Eliminate the "Niagara Branch" boxes altogether and simply list the stations along LSW without any implication of service patterns;
2.List all the stations under "Lakeshore West", and also include the "Niagara branch" showing the correct summer weekend/holiday stops, but ignore the Express branch; or
3. Show each of the 3 service patterns with their own box
When you reverted my edit, I had started working on Option 2 because it was the most similar to the status quo, but I personally prefer Option 3. Let me know which option you think is most appropriate. Reaperexpress (talk) 22:52, 20 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for laying out everything so clearly here! If we do chose to list each service pattern separately, perhaps the wording of "Niagara branch" could be changed now that Niagara is part of the mainline? Maybe "Niagara seasonal" or something like that? BLAIXX 00:28, 21 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Reaperexpress: Is the service table here up to date? I am unsure of it, given that it sometimes doesn't match the navigation templates in the infoboxes. Cards84664 (talk) 00:56, 21 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Blaixx: I agree. "Niagara Branch" is no longer a sufficiently descriptive title now that two different services go to Niagara. GO Transit seems to advertise it as "Niagara Seasonal GO Train Service", but that's too long for the navigation template. I think "Niagara seasonal" or simply "seasonal service" would be good options.Reaperexpress (talk) 01:28, 21 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Cards84664: The service table is up to date. It previously had similar errors to the navigation templates but I fixed it a while ago. I'm only just now getting around to fixing the navigation templates as well, hence the discrepancy.Reaperexpress (talk) 01:27, 21 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Reaperexpress: Can Hamilton station somehow be denoted as a station on its own branch in the table? Cards84664 (talk) 01:38, 21 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
