Nazi poster and POV issues...[edit]

So I went ahead and removed the Nazi poster and caption:

There are a few reasons for removal:

1) It's difficult to see how such an example doesn't serve to inflame more than to elucidate.

2) Its relevance is rather dubious, since a plain reading of the text doesn't necessarily imply that it's calling for more money to be spent on regular German citizens, as opposed to others. It talks about the money belonging to the citizens, but this doesn't necessarily mean more money being spent on them. Could simply mean taxpayers keeping more of their earnings.

3) Its relevance is doubly dubious, as it's not clear that the disabled person isn't German. If the idea of "welfare chauvinism" is to argue against immigration on the basis that it means less money to spend on citizens, a propaganda poster featuring someone who's presumably a citizen (albeit a disabled one) is a rather poor example.

I suspect the only reason that it was included in the first place was to conflate the modern day AfD Party (featured in the image above) with Nazism.

I also flagged the article to be checked for NPOV, for similar reasons to those cited by the commenter above (from several years ago). As this user noted, there's certainly a good faith discussion to be had as to what levels of immigration (particularly of less skilled immigrants) is comparable with the sustainable maintenance of a robust social safety net, of the sort that a number of European countries have, which were generally originally designed primarily to serve their own citizens.

Of course "chauvinism" is a rather prerogative label. The article itself mentions "welfare nationalism" as an alternative name that's also used, so it might make sense to have that be the article's title, as it's a bit more neutral. -2003:CA:871E:369A:7992:F18F:C1CA:E257 (talk) 12:44, 20 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The term used in sources are "welfare chauvinism" and therefore it should be used here as well. It is a form av chauvinist discussion model. Dnm (talk) 10:10, 11 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
