Ariana Grande's lead singles of her albums has music videos. I can identify that "We Can't Be Friends (Wait for Your Love)" is the 2nd single of Eternal Sunshine. Meaning of the song[edit]

It is clear from the lyrics that this is about the press, or at least a dual-meaning song, being disguised as a love song: "I didn't think you'd understand me How could you ever even try? I don't wanna tiptoe, but I don't wanna hide But I don't wanna feed this monstrous fire Just wanna let this story die And I'll be alright"

Talking about not wanting to give oxygen to a speculative story, and one that could never be communicated properly.

"You cling to your papers and pens Wait until you like me again"

Talking about reporters who are writing negative things about her.

"'Cause I don't wanna argue, but I don't wanna bite My tongue, yeah, I think I'd rather die You got me misunderstood, but at least I look this good"

Again, not wanting to engage as she doesn't want to start a public war.

"Know that you made me I don't like how you paint me, yet I'm still here hanging"

Press made her big, now it's trying to destroy her.
