Image copyright problem with Image:Newry and Mourne logo.png[edit]

The image Image:Newry and Mourne logo.png is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
  • That this article is linked to from the image description page.

Name change: Ringmackilroy to Warrenpoint?[edit]

When did the English version of this place change from Ringmackilroy to Warrenpoint? 86.44.43.208 (talk) 15:03, 15 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Rinn Mac Giolla Ruaidh was the name of the area before the settlement of Warrenpoint was established. I don't believe the settlement itself was ever referred to as Ringmackilroy (anglicisation), but the term is still used for the townland. 148.252.140.233 (talk) 08:11, 11 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This is not a bad article, however it does need "filling out" a bit more. I will add some more information, but in the meantime it would be nice if some other locals gave some input, or explained their entry e.g.: who is "Cathal Daniel John Grimes" ?? and why is he listed? Oldwarrenpoint 20:59, 10 March 2007 (UTC) Currently the following is on the warrenpoint page..."the former mode of transport became obsolete overnight" referring to the advent of the railway. This is total nonsense. I know of many people still using the horse and cart to get to Newry from Warrenpoint in the 1950's not long before the time that the railway was being decommisioned never mind instituted!!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.145.241.36 (talk) 09:52, 15 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Bridal Loanan[edit]

"The Bridal Loanan is one of the biggest cul-de-sac's in the world and the largest in Europe. It also has the Magennis Investiture Stone at its peak."

This is often repeated by locals in the town, but many say it half-knowing that it may not be true. No reference is provided for this, and I'm not sure the claim is verifiable. I always felt this was jocular rather than statement of fact. I intend to look to substantiate it, but this may well not be accurate.

It should be noted that the page has largely been written by a local of the town. 148.252.140.233 (talk) 08:27, 11 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
