At the top there should be a link to the disambiguation page for other uses of "War." Ileanadu (talk) 07:45, 23 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article alludes to some history that is important, but needs elaboration. For example--what is the last album WAR recorded with the original line-up? How was one member able to wrest control of the copyright from the others? The group that tours now is--as is plainly acknowledged in the article--not the same group that had top-selling albums and Top 40 and album-oriented FM radio hits in the '70's. When did this change, how, and why? Was it gradual, with some members departing, or was there a major rift that suddenly changed the line-up to something akin to Axyl Rose's current "Guns N' Roses?" It seems as if the "Lowrider" Band is War's "Velvet Revolver."

REPLY: It's way worse than you think; this article (as of Apr 2014) sidesteps and muffles a much darker story.

The Lowrider Band IS War, in everything but name. The keyboardist & the manager & some high-dollar asshat lawyers colluded in 1981 to seize legal ownership of the name War from the band's founding members. Five or six of the original '60s members, including the two cofounders/leaders of the band, have played together straight through to the present day, more than 4 decades as an ensemble -- first as War, then after losing that brandname, as Lowrider Band -- but they're legally forbidden to say or print the name War on any of their promotions, not even to plug their own back catalog to new audiences.

Must be frustrating to perform a long set of familiar classics to full houses, yet be forbidden to tell these audiences what band's albums to buy to generate royalties from the older hits you wrote & still play -- worst musical deal I know of in modern history. There's gotta be an extra-special circle of hell reserved for the 2 bastards who hijacked the name War away from the musicians who REALLY composed & recorded World Is a Ghetto.

The holes in this article's narrative suggest an ongoing back-&-forth between those who wish to set the record straight vs those whose livelihoods rely on keeping that record cockeyed.

In a just world, the <War (band)> disambiguation link would simply redirect visitors to the entry for Lowrider Band.66.249.173.175 (talk) 05:35, 26 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

To add to article[edit]

Basic information to add to article: why was the band named "War"? 173.88.241.33 (talk) 00:29, 2 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

War's first hit was "War" which was on their first album. That is the first song they had written and performed and then performed on American Bandstand. That is left off their history on their bio. page. Their 2nd hit was "Spill The Wine". Also, another big hit they had which is not on your list is "All Day Music" from '72, '73. 2600:1702:840:4F30:D9FC:2253:7E3C:C652 (talk) 07:02, 11 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

In the sidebar where it says "Members" shouldn't it say "Original Members"? Those are the original members, not the current ones. Troy Fan (talk) 17:16, 14 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
