Attempted deletion[edit]

What the hell has happened to my Wikipedia page? Every bit of information has vanished! For years it has been a thorough record of my 55 year career on Broadway, films and television and now it has been reduced to a four line soundbite.

Although I have occasionally updated information on this page over the years, I was not the one who started it. Whoever did create that page did an amazing job and for years people have used that page to find out about my life and career.

And it was so detailed, even had information listed that I myself had forgotten about. And now it is all gone --deleted -- just my name, birthday and what constitutes a soundbite from IMDB.

I hope and pray the all that invaluable information -- which was a valuable reference for me as well as for others == has not been erased and lost forever.

Please -- I hope there is a way you can restore it. Please let me know if there is anything I need to do to help make that happen.

Sincerely, WALTER WILLISON WAWNYC@aol.com

WALTER WILLISON PAGE INFO HAS BEEN DELETED! WHY.[edit]

Hi!

And HELP!!!!

What the hell has happened to my Wikipedia page? Every bit of information has vanished! For years it has been a thorough record of my 55 year career on Broadway, films and television and now it has been reduced to a four line soundbite.

I hope and pray the all that invaluable information -- which was a valuable reference for me as well as for others has not been erased and lost forever. What kind of evil person would delete some’s entire history?

Please -- I hope there is a way you can restore it. Please let me know if there is anything I need to do to help make that happen.

WALTER WILLISON Page IS NOT COPYRIGHT CONTENT[edit]

I wrote all of that. It’s the standard bio that has gone out to the press, with uodates, for decades. I am the one who posted it on IMDB. This has nothing to do with them.

My bio has begn with the phrase “garnered a Tony Award nomination and a Theatre World Award” since a press agent first wrote that in 1971. It was not written by and is not cooyrighted by IMDB.

And, in fact, the show titles are highlighted! For example IMDB “Broadway Scandals of 1928: The New 1928 Speakeasy Musical” Which is the title off Broadway musical I wrote in 1982 and which is been recorded. This has nothing to do with IMDb it’s a title of a show I wrote listed in the resume. As of the majority of the other things highlighted. They shows in the names of the people involved in them.

I have just seen the page with everything highlighted in red for the first time and I am flabbergasted. I wrote all of that and it is a combination of fifty years wirth of press releases. It is NOT COOYRIGHTED BY IMDB!

I pay IMDB PRO to include that bio. It is not owned or copyrighted by them.

This is unbelievable!

Please see this page on the IMDb website. If some of the text was written by a press agent, they might also have a claim on the copyright. In any case, Wikipedia articles should mostly summarise what indepentent sources say about a subject, not what the subject says about themselves. @WAWNYC: I myself have faced a similar situation to yours. My advice for you is to keep what is relevant for the article, try not to copy what another guy said before you said it here, and use your own words. If another guy said something on another website after you said it here, then the copyright for that particular piece of information would belong to you, not that guy. And before anything worse can happen to this article, I advise you to make a sandbox to store it. Leo1pard (talk) 13:30, 18 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Walter's argument is that he wrote his IMDb biography himself, Leo1pard. However, IMDb's terms and conditions appear to mean that it is now subject to copyright. Cordless Larry (talk) 13:32, 18 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
