PhD[edit]

I am removing (again) from the opening sentence the "Ph.D" following the subject's name. Per WP:CREDENTIAL, "Post-nominal letters indicating academic degrees (including honorary degrees) should not be included following the subject's name in the first line". Promo quotes[edit]

Spelling the Name of the Subject[edit]

According to the subject's own official biography (fall 2019), some of his writings, reviews of his writings by others, and himself (a personal communication, summer 2019), his name is spelled:

Walt (or Walter) de Vries.

So I believe that Wikipedia's Manual of Style should embrace this spelling.
