GA Reassessment[edit]

Article (edit | visual edit | history) · Article talk (edit | history) · Watch
From the talk page a couple of months ago there have been concerns about the length of the lead and the prose quality of this article. For example

  • In the late summer of 1939, the "Sarny" Regiment sent bulk of its forces to Upper Silesia to man the Fortified Area Silesia, some units, including Raginis, went to Osowiec Fortress, near border with East Prussia.
  • It is worth noting that some of the shelters were incomplete as war broke out.

It is also very dry, lots of the sentences don't flow very well. There are too many single sentence paragraphs and the tablet inscription currently does not fit into the article very well. I would also question the broadness and focus. The relative lengths of the cultural reference and posthumous honor sections that long would suggest that there should be more information to put into the biography proper. • The principal author is inactive. English issues may be addressed if you ask at WT:POLAND for copyeditors; but comprehensive issues... hard to say if anybody will find time and will. I could try to get hold of a PSB bio, if anybody would be interested in working with it. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 16:18, 22 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
      • I could probably do the copy-edit myself, but would need someone a bit more knowledgable to assess the other ares. What is a PSB bio? AIRcorn (talk) 21:34, 22 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • I'm back. What are the concerns about the article? Ajh1492 (talk) 20:34, 25 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The tag in the lead is what brought me to this article. The prose itself is a little problematic, I gave some examples above, but there are too many one sentence paragrpahs. The Posthumous honors section should be turned into prose. The quotes and the tablet really break up the text (not in a good way). I think block quotes should only be used for long quotes not one line quotes. The tombstone inscription should is bent around the picture in my computer, which doesn't help the flow. Maybe turn it into a quote box or a paragraph proper. One other concern I had, which to be honest is hard for me to substantiate, is the broadness. I would think that an article like this would have more information available to allow the background to be fleshed out. All we have of his parents is the rather vague "He came from a landowning family with patriotic traditions." There is very little of his childhood or how he rose through the ranks. Nine years are missing between 1930 and 1939. Generally there is plenty of information on national heroes so I would be surprised if it was not available. It's been a month and nothing has really happened to the article. Will look to close this in a couple of days unless something happens there or here. AIRcorn (talk) 08:06, 22 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Delisting Non of the raised issues have been addressed yet. AIRcorn (talk) 10:33, 30 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
