"The neighborhood of Voždovac is located 4-5 km south of downtown Belgrade, on a hill in the northern part of the municipality."

Is this correct? The map in the Belgrade article shows that Voždovac is halfway between north and south.

OK, you made me measure the maps :o) Municipality of Voždovac is almost 40 km elongated in the north-south direction. That means it roughly has 13 km of north, 13 km of middle and 13 km of south. The neighborhood of Voždovac within the municipality however occupies an area beginning 0.8-1 km from the northernmost point of the municipality and stretches for the further 2-2.5 km to the south. That means it is well within first half of the northern 13 km :o) PajaBG 20:06, 21 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. This is very educational for me. Let me try to guess what this means. The "municipality" of Voždovac is the entire area legally defined to be Voždovac. The "neighbourhood" of Voždovac means the business centre of Voždovac, or perhaps the oldest part of Voždovac. Am I right?
I'm asking this because I'm wondering if neighborhood has a different meaning in this article than what I'm used to. Being a North American who has unfortunately never been to Belgrade, I find it confusing that Voždovac is a neighborhood inside Voždovac. In the city of Edmonton, for example, there is a lot of neighbourhoods. But it would be confusing to have a neighborhood called Edmonton in the City of Edmonton. Hopefully, the people of Belgrade are less easily confused. :o) Wanderer57 17:32, 22 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
P. S. I found Wikipedia articles on Komšiluk and Komshi - are these terms relevant to Belgrade?
OK. It is not confusing at all :o) Municipalities are, as you say, legally defined but the neighborhoods are not. Check the intro on the List of Belgrade neighborhoods. That's why article on Voždovac has separate municipality and neighborhood sections. For example, I live in the neighborhood of Dušanovac in the municipality of Voždovac, but if asked where I live, I will always say I live in Dušanovac, unless I am specifically asked in which municipality I live (btw, municipal assembly is in my neighborhood :o). Term komšiluk is mainly reserved for your immediate neighbors, not for the entire neighborhood (people from your building, from your street, across your place, etc.). Colloquial term used for neighborhood is kraj (krai), so, you always ask someone in which kraj he lives. You can also check List of former and proposed municipalities of Belgrade. As for the Municipality of Voždovac specifically, it originally was compised mainly of the neighborhood of the same name, but in the future years several other municipalities were annexed to it, but the name remained probably as it was oldest and most recognizable neighborhood of all.
