Content[edit]

It is true that the rumor-mill on the Internet has had a negative impact on this man's history, but certainly there was much more to his career than the rumor of first space flight. Can't this entry have more on his accomplishments and life? William J Bean (talk) 11:02, 14 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, I'd happily put this article together as a fitting entry for a brave and well-regarded test pilot if someone could kindly point me in the direction of some good sources on him (I'm a bit busy and have time for writing, but not much sleuthing.) I'd say a man deserves to be known for who and what he was, rather than on what he wasn't, no? Florestanová (talk) 00:46, 15 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Birth[edit]

Where was he born?70.29.77.190 (talk) 17:28, 22 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Dont Make Changes[edit]

I added a snap-shot, and currently working on his page right now. It will take time but I will do my best :)

infobox[edit]

There is exactly zero hard evidence to support the stories of Ilyushin being a cosmonaut at all, much less the first man in space. I am hereby changing the infobox to reflect that, the rest of the article will take a little more work. Florestanová (talk) 21:39, 13 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Rank[edit]

The guy is either a major general or a lt. general but not both. Somebody please figure out which 89.139.50.175 (talk) 20:26, 23 September 2014 (UTC) Roy[reply]

A major general is still a general, and would still be correctly referred to as "General Whatever." Nick Cooper (talk) 09:55, 3 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Test flight[edit]

The current version of the article states:

"Ilyushin demonstrated his outstanding piloting skills as a test pilot of the Sukhoi Su-24. He flew a course so precisely that he caused a software crash in the aircraft instrumentation."

However, there is no reference for this and I've not found an online source to corroborate this. It's a lovely anecdote and I wish it were true, but I'm skeptical. Overseasexile (talk) 11:12, 23 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
