Assassinations[edit]

Y'know, I just don't get why Mob murders are being dignified as "assassinations". They're just murders, killings, hits... Trekphiler 07:16, 27 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Major clean up[edit]

This article needs a major clean up and alleged fictional works like "The Last Testament of Lucky Luciano" were relied on way too heavily. Most records actually show that Luciano and Genovese never had problems with each other, though Luciano was quoted in Italy as saying "Costello once shined my shoes and was happy to do it" and was widely seen as having a rift with Costello, not Genovese. Again, proper research and not quoting authors who made things up or did bad research themselves would help Wikipedia improve.

Another matter would be that a 1930 article on Vito Genovese in the New York Times reveals that he was considered a major gang leader on the West Side of Manhattan by that time period and owned a summer home in Long Island. So whereas many see him as Luciano's side-kick/henchman it is pretty obvious that he was a power in his own right in the Masseria organization. The charge was actually counterfeiting and the journalists couldn't help but point out that Genovese didn't learn from Lupo's mistake.

In this article, he died in New York. Did he die after he had been transported from Springfield to New York?— Preceding unsigned2|02:53, October 7, 2006‎|Example

Narrative issues[edit]

I believe there is a problem with the "Rise to Power" part of the article. There are two different versions of Genovese's flee to İtaly. Why didn't the user which write the second version erase the first version if it is incorrect? I didn't make any changes because I don't know which version is true but I think this part should be corrected by an expert.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Example (talkcontribs)

The article shows a major narrative gap between the "Exile in Italy" and "Gaining Power" sections, with no account of how and under what circumstances Genovese returned from Italy to the US after WWII. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ludwig X (talkcontribs) 19:52, 1 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Vito's d.o.b[edit]

I have changed the d.o.b from the 27th to the correct date of the 21st of November — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.148.22.159 (talk) 13:15, 11 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like this is the case Vito Genovese: King of Crime, 1963, Mafia Summit: J. Edgar Hoover, the Kennedy Brothers... 2013, American Inventors, Entrepreneurs, and Business Visionaries 2014. No reliable sources show November 27. Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 14:48, 11 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
