He is also the guitar player that one the Pepsi contest and subsequently played on a Pepsi commercial. Is that 'new generation' they kept talking about still around?

Vinnie Moore and metal[edit]

Hello guys,
In the article about Vinnie Moore, the author defined his music as instrumental rock, and neoclassical metal.
I think I have to disagree with a part of this definition. While I completely agree he plays instrumental rock, and also that he has a lot of neoclassical elements, defining his music as metal is not very accurate in my opinion. While his songs do contain some elements of metal (distorted guitars for example), generally speaking, I think this is still not enough to classify his music as metal since it lacks a lot of other elements more specific to metal (heavy basslines and drums, harsh or any vocals for that matter), but fits more into the general definition of rock, or shred guitar if a more specific definition is required.

If you think otherwise, please let me know why.

To the vandal who keeps reversing the removal of the mentioning of metal: Don't just reverse, come here and discuss the matter. This might be considered vandalism. Northern (talk) 14:56, 24 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That is probably the numbest comment added to Wikipedia today??? Perhaps you should read WP:VAN to find out what vandalism is. Perhaps you should read WIkipedia's other policies and guidelines and learn how to edit correctly. Some peabrain keeps changing a valid and referenced link to a genre the artist is very known for... and adding in a dab link which has multiple meanings and is useless here. Read WP:POL, WP:EDIT and all the subpages contained within. It will help you to know how to properly edit the project and not come across looking like a bonehead. 156.34.215.45 (talk) 02:14, 25 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
And while your reading Wiki's other policies... you should read WP:SOCK too. You anon IP has been tagged for sockpuppetry. 156.34.215.45 (talk) 02:16, 25 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You are so exact and clever on that "sock puppet" thingy except... the IP addresses that that kept editing the article isn't mine. It's my friend's. That's probably impossible that two friends will contribute, right?
And I would suggest that you chill on the "bonehead" thing as soon as possible
As for what we're meant to do here, on Wikipedia: A friend of mine kept editing out a reference to metal and someone kept adding it back without discussing. Whoever did it = is a vandal. If you disagree with a change, you must come over to the discussion and discuss it. We found a mistake and want to correct it but that "peabrain" as you like to refer to people who disagree with you, keeps changing back and refuses to discuss.

NOW! I'm removing the metal thing once again! If you attempt to change it without discussion it (read the comment above from user 89.138.247.184), I will have to get the attention of an administrator. Northern (talk) 11:13, 25 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Instead of removing metal again and again, you ppl shold have held a proper discussion. Musical genres are highy subjective terms but that doesnt mean users can go on removing them as per their whims and wishes. Please go through WP:OWN. As far as metal is concerned, check Vinnie Moore's MySpace page here. Also check the 230,000 hits for Vinnie Moore+metal. Before removing the reference again, discuss again otherwise the page will have to be semi-protected. New Rock Star (talk) 14:15, 25 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

First, it doesn't really matter what Vinnie Moore says. If Dr. Dre decides to call his music "country" one day it won't change the fact that it's still rap.
I really hate having to remove anything but as you may see, the other guy just keeps undoing the removal I make. As you may see, I've been disparately trying to get the other guy to DISCUSS the matter. I don't mind him undoing, but could he PLEASE respond to what my friend wrote quite long ago? (the message that starts this section by 89.138.247.184). He maybe right or not, but he does deserve a response instead of just undoing and assuming that only your opinion counts. Northern (talk) 15:55, 25 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Can anybody explain what I did wrong?:
Me and my friend came across something that we believe is a misleading information. So, we went to the discussion page and posted our opinion which was in August of this year, as you may see. Since August, nobody has responded to our claim. I think a couple of months is a long enough period to assume that nobody really disagreed with us so we went ahead and changed it. Now, right after the change we find that our change is undone with no explanation at all. Can anybody please explain me what the heck have we done wrong?
