not same vertical plane[edit]

I dislike the caption "All bites are in the same vertical plane."

I started to change it to "All bites lie in parallel vertical planes" or "Each bite lies in a vertical plane parallel to the corresponding planes of all other bites." When I realized that was wrong, and caught myself about to try something like "Each bite lies in a vertical plane normal to the line of the wound", I decided to ask for help.

Is there a surgeon out there who can suggest something short, true, and helpful to a layman, instead of something that sounds like it came from a geometry textbook?
