Factual accuracy[edit]

The numbers of appearances and goals in the infobox are very different (much lower) than in the corresponding article in Portuguese Wikipedia. The article says that he scored 12 goals for Vasco da Gama; but, according to Campeonato Carioca, he scored 19 goals for them in the 1993 season alone. Narky Blert I added the stats using ForaDeJogo, which only lists Serie A apps. The Dubai one is sourced elsewhere. The difference is due to how apps and goals are counted, in Portuguese they must have included Campeonato Carioca or even every official match, in here it doesn't. In Neymar for instance, its the same. --Threeohsix (talk) 21:50, 27 October 2018 (UTC)--Threeohsix (talk) 21:50, 27 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Threeohsix: This needs some sort of explanatory footnote at least. There was a {{disambiguation needed}} tag to Valdir in Campeonato Carioca dated March 2017. This was at least the second time I had looked at it. I finally managed to sort it out by dotting between English and Portuguese sources, but it took me 15 minutes before I was certain that I had solved the puzzle (one of eight on that page). Any future reader who clicks through from Campeonato Carioca to Valdir Bigode and spots the discrepancy will also be puzzled without some sort of explanation. Narky BlertThere is a explanatory footnote at the bottom of the infobox "* Senior club appearances and goals counted for the domestic league only". --Threeohsix (talk) 22:18, 27 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Threeohsix: It may need more explanation than that. I am comfortable reading Portuguese, which is about my seventh language (I once posted in the Portuguese equivalent of a WP:AFD). The discrepancy between the English and the Portuguese articles took me 15 minutes to sort out, and this discussion has taken at least another 15. Never forget that we are here to help the readers. If a multilingual editor suggests that there is a problem, then there probably is a problem. Narky Blert (talk) 22:58, 27 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
