Duka's announcement can be considered as purpose-built. It was necessary in order to proceed with church-supported funeral. Havel himself was never practising catholic and his beliefs were not publically known. Some light on his beliefs can show his actions, he invited Dalajlama in order to balance visit of the head of catholic church - pope. And also, both his marriages took place at Žižkov town hall here(CZ). Statement by a head of the Czech Roman Catholic church can not be accepted as a valid reference on Vaclav Havel's religious affiliation or views towards Roman Catholic Church. Especially when it was said after the death of Vaclav Havel. It may be biased by a church agenda. Independent source should be provided.

Baptism, by standards of catholic church, represents an admission to the church and is non-cancelable. However, baptism is usually performed on a person when he is a suckling and, therefore, it can not be used as a proof of personal religious views in adult age. Baptism is not used as a proof of religious affiliation in cases of people which are perceived as evil or insane by major public (like Adolf Hitler, Josef Mengele, Josef Fritzl) and therefore it may not be used as a sole evidence of religious affiliation even for people which are perceived as humanists and sane like Vaclav Havel.

Any criticism?

I'm missing anything negative in this article and there was a lot of it in Mr. Havel's life. Like alcohol abuse, never admitted homosexuality/bisexuality, abuse of funds aimed to help real dissidents to organize orgies of few chosen "dissidents" and their friends, his status whilst in prison - all the benefits he had and why (because he cooperated), how he got to be released in mid 1989 - as a political prisoner he could not have been released without signing cooperation with StB, why he was sent to Moscow right after release and who gave him the mandate to talk to Politbyro re. political changes in Czechoslovakia. Also, no mention of breaking of Benes' Decrees (the property of his father and uncle was confiscated under these because of collaboration with Nazis, not by communists). Connection with Freemasons...
