Is there a way to correctly define applicability of 500 mA/transistor, 2500 mA/IC current ratings?[edit]

Correctly in wikipedia meaning, avoiding OR and other mortal sins.
Overall power dissipation is not rated directly, but quite obviously neither the DIP, nor the SO cases can take take more than 1W. Datasheet claims thermal resistances from 64 (DIP) to 108 C/W (TSSOP) - probably too optimistic, but let's take it. Even at 64 C/W, assuming 1V saturation Vce, the 2.5A total rated current can not be continuous. Pulsed, sure, but not continuous. Retired electrician (talk) 19:01, 25 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
