September 2016 Notability Tag[edit]

The recent AfD was closed prematurely in the opinion of at least 2 of the participating commentators, who attempted to discuss this action in a conversation with the closing admin. Specifically, concern was raised regarding the main source shortly before AfD was closed – debate was essentially cut short, leaving significant doubt as to the actual notability status of this subject. Since the overture to the closing admin has gone unanswered for more than 2 weeks now, it is reasonable to indicate this ongoing doubt with the tag. Agricola44, I've just seen the discussion about possibly re-opening it. In case it matters, I voted to keep but changed my mind. By the time I got to the page to change my comment, the AfD had closed. Now in addition I've seen your comment about the main source; if that's correct it might change the outcome.
Pinging Michig who might be willing to re-open the discussion, or perhaps deletion review is the way to proceed. Someone should consider writing to the National Library of Medicine to ask how they choose their profiles in case it affects other AfDs. SarahSV (talk) 00:36, 16 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I think the lede needs rewriting, specifically the ending of the second paragraph, which has a sentence that is confusing to read. I also am wondering if it would be possible to access an old bio of Buckingham from the CHADD source because it currently only list her name. Cjoswald (talk) 19:31, 28 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that the sentence "One of her aims is to challenge, through education, the reluctance of minority parents to allow their children to be evaluated by psychiatrists for fear of having them stigmatized" is waffle, not encyclopedic style. I suggest deleting it because the first paragraph covers the information with "development of culturally sensitive diagnosis and treatment of mental illness in children and adolescents". Plenty of Missing Information[edit]

If one's attempting to create a complete biography, getting her early life and just some general stats would be helpful. Also, her full name should be included in the title, I think. Not as important, but I believe the NIH site does have photos of her, so that could provide some reference as well. Smahmic (talk) 04:15, 29 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Needs more information concerning her scientific studies[edit]

Her work and findings should be discussed instead of just listed. Information regarding the challenges she faces as an African American Woman in medicine would be helpful. More information on her familial life would be helpful. Here are some links I've found –
