What does that "memorial" photo have to do with US Route 550? Seems to be self serving. I'm sorry for their loss but it looks like somebody is posting a personal memorial photo on a vaguely relevant page.

Animated image[edit]

I added Image:hwy550-ani.gif because I think it helps illustrate the character of this highway – no shoulder and a steep drop right at the edge of the outside lane. This was somewhere on the drive down into Ouray from the south, very near the artificial tunnel that protects against rock/snow slides. Sorry that it's so short and jerky. My wife was trying to take a photograph and didn't realize that I had left the camera in movie mode, so the clip was an accident and not carefully shot. I won't complain too bitterly if others think that it does not add to the article and decide to remove it. --Kbh3^rd talk 20:58, 20 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I concur. If the colorado section of this article was large, it would make sense to break out the million dollar highway portion into its own article. But being as how both of these articles are quite short, not much point in 2 articles. Probably should have Million Dollary Highway redirect to the Colorado portion of this article. Million Dollar Highway[edit]

A portion of Ridge Road (NY 31) between Niagara Falls and Rochester was also known as the Million Dollar Highway. Unless this name is completely unused now in New York, it might be better to turn Million Dollar Highway into a dab page. --Polaron | Talk 12:56, 21 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've gone through the first 3 pages of hits on Google with a search for "Million Dollar Highway". Every one has referred to US 550 in Colorado except for one link to a picture of a highway in Pennsylvania, with no further information. No page from any travel or roadtrip site has referred to anywhere else but Colorado. So I'd wait until there is actually an article for the highway in New York then have at the top of the article for US 550 "Million Dollar Highway" redirects here, for other uses.......
