Lineal[edit]

Seeing as your IP keeps changing, I'll copy and paste what I posted to your talk page here:

Per WP:NPOV, you cannot state in Wikipedia's voice that Tyson Fury is a "lineal champion". Whether you like it or not, the "lineal" status is an opinion, not a fact. Per the standing consensus at WP:BOXING, we only mention the mythical "lineal championship" on certain pages and under certain circumstances. For instance, it's fine to mention on Tyson Fury's article that he's widely considered the "lineal champion" by media outlets, but it's not fine to state in Wikipedia's voice, on an article about a fight, that Fury is the "lineal champion" and his imaginary title will be on the line. We also don't list this in record tables, succession boxes or lists of champions, and by extension, lists of titles. Hence why the fan-made "lineal championship" is omitted from the article. If, as you say, you're going to continue to violate Wikipedia policy, a simple rememedy will be a range block and the article in question being protected from such disruption. – ².O.^Boxing 10:15, 27 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Date notation[edit]

The date has been agreed as August 14th but I'm not sure which date notation will be use for it. It's between two British fights so it could be 14 August 2021 but it's taking place in a foreign territory so will it be August 14, 2021? Faren29 (talk) 00:07, 14 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Faren29: per MOS:DATETIES, Articles on topics with strong ties to a particular English-speaking country should generally use the date format most commonly used in that nation. As Saudi isn't an English-speaking country, the only tie would be the nationalities of the fighters, so dmy would probably be the preferred format. – ².O.^Boxing 01:20, 14 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Page name[edit]

I am not fully aware by that page moves, I don't understand why Penepi is trying to disrupt the page by moving it from J to F to F to J. I can't trust this page move, there are overwhelming ringside observers such as ESPN, USA Today, SB Nation and CBSSports.com have strongly preferred to the name Anthony Joshua vs. Tyson Fury, the name AJ to TF we shall follow the first names of the fighters, as most of media outlets strongly preferred to AJ vs TF. --2600:6C4E:57F:541E:4D91:6C85:69D:C8BE (talk) 00:17, 15 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, cannot agree. Put "Fury vs Joshua" into google and you will see many articles preferring this order. Even if not, this is not an argument. We should basically follow the alphabet and fighters' surnames for now, which is definitely more official than just what some observers prefer. And "F" goes before "J". Simple as that. As the fight hasn't been officially announced, and as there isn't a significant majority of reliable sources using one or the other (although a Google search for "Fury vs Joshua" does comes back with more results for "Anthony Joshua vs. Tyson Fury"), there is no right or wrong title. At this present moment, both titles are acceptable per WP:Article titles, so it shouldn't have been changed in the first place. Alphabetical order, although logical, isn't listed as a criteria for naming an article and definitely isn't a reason to change it. The page moves need to stop. Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua → Anthony Joshua vs. Tyson Fury – As per naming conventions, Joshua holds the WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO titles, while Fury holds the WBC and Ring Magazine heavyweight titles. It's apparent the fight will be labelled differently depending on the promotional companies. Top Rank and Queensberry will likely call it Fury vs. Joshua whilst Matchroom will likely call it Joshua vs. Fury. Faren29 (talk) 20:04, 16 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
