Improvements[edit]

Hey, tried to give a little help to your article--as I see it being a useful contribution with a bit more work being put in--but it will definitely need some additional sources and more content specifically on TB and India. Good luck :) DietFoodstamp (talk) 09:24, 2 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! I would like your assistance in expanding this article. I really want to get it upto the mark of a good article. I think may be you can help me finding some content as well as sources and information. This article is of great importance as India is home to largest TB patients. I am also trying as for my part in concerned. VIVEK RAI :  Friend?  —Preceding undated comment added 09:57, 2 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Navigation to other articles[edit]

I removed the "see also" section and added the {{Tuberculosis}} navigation box here. The items in the see also section were not about India specifically, which is why I removed it. Instead, editors can standardize the presentation of related articles and users can get this content from the navigation box I added. Here are the changes:

Removal of diagnosis section[edit]

I removed the "diagnosis" section. My reasons for doing so were that this information is in the main tuberculosis article and that there was almost no content here specifically about India, and also that there were zero citations in this section. I support anyone re-adding content with citations to reliable sources. Blue Rasberry (talk) 17:07, 7 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Image in lead[edit]

Before there was a picture of bacteria. I changed this with an image of a patient. This patient image comes from an Indian website, so I thought it fits.

If anyone has an idea for a better image then please share. Blue Rasberry (talk) 17:12, 7 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Sources for October 2020[edit]

Articles regularly need updating! I went to PubMed and searched for "tuberculosis india" and filtered by "systematic review" and recent articles. After getting those reviews, I did some more searches and grabbed a few more articles which seemed interesting. This is what I found:

Miscellaneous culture

There is a lot here and potentially a lot more in other sources which anyone could gather from elsewhere. I am sharing this here as a reasonable starting point for updating the article. Blue Rasberry (talk) 17:33, 7 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of further reading section[edit]

I removed the "further reading" section. Here it is in the history log -

I removed this because the newest publication in this list is from 2005 and I expect that this information is out of date. Some of these papers do not meet Wikipedia's criteria for being reliable sources in medicine due to being case studies. Many of the papers are about TB in general, but not India specifically.

I support anyone re-creating a further reading section, and even putting some items here back up if that makes sense. At a glance, I think it is best to not make any recommendation rather than leave this without updated consideration. Blue Rasberry (talk) 18:48, 7 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of quotations[edit]

I just removed the following quotations:

"Within India, the Journal—using government data obtained through the Right to Information Act has reported that India's drug-resistance rate is likely much higher than the 2% to 3% of TB cases reported to the WHO"[1]

"Paul Nunn, coordinator of WHO's STOP TB department in Geneva, described the cases as “a wake up call for countries to accelerate provision of proper care, particularly for multi drug-resistant patients”.[2]

I felt that they were stale, both being from 2012. Also this is an article likely to be translated into multiple languages of India, and quotations typically do not cross languages easily. If someone wants to propose some new quotation to include then I think that is up for discussion. Blue Rasberry (talk) 02:46, 8 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The Global Burden of Disease Study is a great report. I hesitate to cite this on the page because it is mostly primary data and not specifically about India. However, many other papers which report epidemiology of TB in India will cite and interpret the data in this report, so I am noting this here. Blue Rasberry (talk) 03:14, 8 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
