Rewrite as of late October 2009[edit]

I rewrote the article partly to update it with the recent jailing of the subject of the article, partly to integrate the external links section into the text as references and partly to avoid possible copyright issues (some phrases seem to have been copied from newspapers articles).Autarch (talk) 13:19, 29 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This edit by OliverCromwell2010 said that The allegations of being an informer was investigated by the Police ombudsman Nula O'Loan who eventually released her findings which showed no evidence of money being paid to Knight or that he was an informer. In fact her report showed if anything he was dealt with by the courts quite fairly receiving Life sentences but no source is provided.

This link has some relevant quotes: Mrs O'Loan said the issue of whether Knight was a police informant as alleged was not within her remit, but the fact he was convicted of the Greysteel and Castlerock murders suggested he was not being protected. There is no mention of investigations into the alleged payments at all - indeed, as it wasn't within her remit, it would be surprising if that aspect had been investigated by Nuala O'Loan.

The other issue is the MOS:OPED in quite fairly receiving. It would suffice to say that there was no evidence of favouritism.Autarch (talk) 17:58, 20 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

O'Loan actually refused to investigate whether or not he was informer, saying that it was beyond her remit. I've edited the article (with source) to reflect that fact. Keresaspa (talk) 01:38, 2 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
