I mean really am I the only one that notic that when DR O was fighting all his former self THE GREEN RANGER WAS DIFRENT THE HELMET AND SHELD WERE DIFRENT\\ —Preceding unsigned comment added by Robertotoons (talkcontribs) 10:09, 21 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There are multiple mentions in the article that state that the voice over in SPD is the only instance of the character being played by anyone besides Jason David Frank, but this is simply not true. There is a time when all of the rangers are turned into children, including Tommy, and thus, the character was played by another actor during these episodes (that is, a child actor). I believe it was the majority of the Mighty Morphin' Alien Rangers saga, if not part of the third season's normal episodes as well.

And in addition to what you just said, they also used JDF voice clips recycled from certain DinoThunder episodes during his appearance in S.P.D.. --156.34.72.244 09:36, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Bootleg Universe[edit]

In the short film Power/Rangers by Joseph Kahn; Tommy was portrayed by Russ Bain. Should that be listed in the box? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.207.24.32 (talk) 22:46, 10 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Alternate versions[edit]

I would like to start an alternate versions section for this, and many other PR articles. But especially this one. It seems to me, since people are so intent on including the Zeo future with Tommy and Kat married in the article, then we should include it as a separate bit. As it really doesn't fit in with the current tone of character history. It seems like a worthwhile endeavor given that there are several alternate Tommys - MMPR: The Movie version, A Season to Remember's possible future, his clone, the alternate Tommy that helped him from the future (although I'm fuzzy on the details of that event), and to some extent his ancestor the White Stranger. Any thoughts? --Venomaru 2.0 01:48, 31 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No offense, but that seems kind of pointless. The movie version was never canon, but the outcome of A Season to Remember is still a possiblity. His clone was never spoken of again, and appears that his decision to stay in the past has had no impact in the current timeline. And the warning Tommy recieved from the future, while not followed through (I think), he carried on to himself in the past, and everything turned out fine. The White Stranger really has no extent, as he was pretty much useless in his appearance. So really, taking all this into consideration, his future with Kat is the only thing that has actual meaning.
Hence the "Alternate versions" section. A section for non-canon Tommy portrayals, and possible future versions, etc. The point being that many of this information is important to the PR mythos, especially the movie, but we can't put it in the regular article as it doesn't fit the sectional format of the article, or the history. It's not exactly like we can slip the movie information into the biography since it takes place in an alternate continuity. Anyways, much like this page, and many other similar articles, I believe that there are enough alternate portrayals for the section to be notable. --Venomaru 2.0 01:33, 6 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think it's necessary. Mention of what happened in the movie is summarized well in it's article, and it didn't focus in on one ranger alone. I believe that 'A Season to Remember' has the only real meaning in this article, as it's the only glimpse we get to Tommy's future.CrystallixRed 03:02, 15 August 2007 (UTC)CrystallixRed[reply]

Starting Paragraph[edit]

"Dr. Thomas "Tommy" Oliver is a fictional character from the u" <that doctor bit doesn't make sense since he was in high school with the others when he started. Peachey88 (Talk Page | Contribs) 13:23, 26 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Clothing[edit]

I watched several episodes with Tommy wearing green clothing as White Ranger. Should it be mentioned? Jedi Striker 16:26, 31 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"Black Dino Ranger"[edit]

I must ask whether the Brachiozord and other Dino Thunder Zords that he controls should be added to the "Zords" section of Tommy Oliver's Biography cause I remember I saw it being there before as well as the Stegozord. 121.120.108.244 (talk) 09:18, 27 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rita's power over Green Ranger Coin?[edit]

Is there evidence of Tommy's Green Ranger being fueled by Rita's power instead of the Morphing Grid? Cuz I've rewatched all of MMPR and neither Rita nor Zordon said anything about the Dragon coin being fueled by Rita's power. Or maybe Rita only had that one conenction to the Morphing Grid, cuz Tommy could still enter the Command Center when he was evil. Jedi Striker, 02:15, 10 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ninjor is the one who created the Power Coins, all of them except for the White Tiger Coin. Of all the 6 Dino Coins which included the Dragon Coin, Rita managed to snatch the Dragon Coin while Zordon had the other 5 main ones so since the Dragon Coin was made by Ninjor, Tommy can go for the Command Center. 121.120.120.207 (talk) 07:35, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Errrrmmm...[edit]

Why is he not listed in being in Ninja Storm? He was the white ranger in that series.--97.101.176.250 (talk) 03:47, 14 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

There was no white ranger in Power Rangers: Ninja Storm. Ninja Storm was the series after Wild Force. However, he was in season 3 of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers where they had ninja powers.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 03:56, 14 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Glory Hog[edit]

Once Tommy became the white ranger he went in a power trip. If Jason was still there then he wouldn't be as powerful because he would've been in charge. As the black ranger Tommy took over as the lead because of his veteran status even though he was responsible for the evil of Mesogog in the first place. He was a decent red ranger, but he had to put down Rocky who while not as good as Jason, would have done alright without Tommy. Just because Tommy has had five ranger forms it doesn't mean he had to steal the thunder from the rest of the teams. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 152.30.150.154 (talk) 15:53, 23 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

A Season to Remember[edit]

This was a point brought up to remove the "Kat is Tommy's future wife" edit to the page. While whoever is adding these "love interests" to these pages needs to stop, the comment made in the removal of it was a bit odd to me. Basically saying that "A Season to Remember" is possibly non-canonical with the series. Since when? I was always under the impression that it was cannon. That every episode of the series, which the exception of "And... Action", were canonical. While I agree that the love interest section needs to remain off the page, shouldn't we acknowledge that Tommy eventually marries Kat? Unless there is hard evidence that A Season to Remember is non=canonical. And if there is, I've never seen it.

Reception[edit]

I recommend the reference 15 claiming the white ranger is criticized for being racially stereotyping be either rewritten or removed entirely under the Reception section. Not only is the sentence poorly written, the article used in wiki as a reference is grossly misinterpreted.

It was written by a network critic claiming that the network executives themselves are projecting racial and gender stereotypes by making the rangers represent their race or gender IE: Black ranger is black, yellow ranger is Asian, pink ranger is a white girl, blue ranger is a white nerd, and red ranger is a hot white guy. The network executives are then accused, in reference to the article, making the white ranger represent white supremacy over the other rangers with a white male in a white suit. Even claiming the executives, in regards to the white ranger toy line, jokingly referring to the Christmas sales a "White Christmas".

However, this is not a valid argument to be lorded over Tommy Oliver or Jason David Frank themselves. There is no public stance or political statement about racism from either the show character or Jason Frank. It is unfair to claim that the character in general represents racial stereotyping when the character adamantly stands for justice, teamwork, and friendship in the series. Especially when a known critic that polices TV networks is criticizing the decisions and statements of network executives. One must interpret the reference for what it is. A crazy lady criticizing the TV network for things she has no evidence or references of. It is a slander piece, not a real reference with proof! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2602:306:3022:DFF0:45D4:3920:CA2A:B127 (talk) 20:35, 11 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Seeing how nobody contended this in nearly 5 years, I went ahead and removed it. In addition to the argument presented here, the criticism is easily disproven by the fact that Tommy's character was long established before he became the White Ranger, and he wasn't even intended to be the White Ranger initially (they were going to give the role to another character, but in the end decided to bring Tommy back instead due to his great popularity). 181.80.187.219 (talk) 23:41, 23 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Needs mass improvement[edit]

This article needs mass improvement as it mostly consists of plot summary and little real work data. The third person data regarding his receptions needs to be contextualized in a more through and analytical manner. Dwanyewest (talk) 13:16, 2 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
