Untitled[edit]

I found this (Timur's invasions of Georgia) page by clicking on a link in the "Georgia (country)" page that reads "invasions by Tamerlane". However, nowhere on this page is there a reference to Tamerlane. I think this should be clarified either on this page or on the Georgia page (or, maybe better, both!).Lisapaloma (talk) 01:26, 11 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Tamerlane is an alternative name for Timur (or rather, it is the English version of his Persian nickname Timūr Lang, meaning "Timur the Lame"). I've added "Tamurlane" in brackets after the first mention of Timur. Iapetus (talk) 10:44, 21 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion[edit]

See WP:MILMOS#INFOBOX. The summary/lead should be clear and not filled with clutter. Also with your reference toward Trebizond, that is what is stated in the article. I quote from it:

"All the territories from Beylagan to Trebizond were officially given by Timur as an appanage to his grandson Khalil Mirza."

And please do not host personal attacks in your edit summary.

Trebizond was not part of the Kingdom of Georgia and this war was about the Kingdom of Georgia. OK, this text will be add, but the deletion of the result is your subjective motive and meanwhile you delete the text where it is written "but only formally and remains mostly independent". The result of the battle should be written and it was not the annexation of Trebizond. 5.152.72.140 (talk) 09:11, 6 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
There is no subjective motive. See MILMOS#INFOBOX, I already linked it. The infobox is not meant to reflect such nuances. I added an aftermath section about it remaining mostly independent. Noorullah (talk) 22:44, 6 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Results[edit]

Timur didn't achive his main goal of totally submiting Georgia and making it a muslim state, thus to say that he was victorious would be a stretch BasilE99 (talk) 12:48, 16 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
