New article[edit]

I've been working off wiki on this on and off for a few weeks. As I post the new article here now it still needs a lot of work to fix up the existing info (particularly good refs), and to add to it. On the other hand, it's good enough to post now i think. Help with referencing in particular would be most appreciated. --Merbabu (talk) 04:22, 1 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Content...[edit]

There is scope for a whole lot more events in here, but there needs to be some sort of cutoff. I'd strongly recommend against, say, listing every concert for example. There are a number of notables (1st concert, Live Aid, Sarajevo 97, etc). --Merbabu (talk) 04:26, 1 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I agree; perhaps the first and last concert of each tour so that people know when the tour ran and then notable dates within that tour (such as DVD filming and the milestones such as the aforementioned Sarajevo). MelicansMatkin (talk, contributions) 04:38, 1 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Format[edit]

I've put each year into it's own section - arguably it's not really necessary now, but if say each section doubles in size, then it certainly would be. My next questions, is if the timeline is arranged in yearly sections, do we need the year stated in each entry. In this version i removed the year "1980" against each entry as a test. I think it looks better. What do people think? --Merbabu (talk) 05:49, 1 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned references in Timeline of U2[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Timeline of U2's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 06:24, 1 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
