GA review (see here for criteria)

Hello ArtVandelay13, I will be reviewing this article. I decided to review as it has been sitting in GAN for so long.

  1. It is reasonably well written.
a (prose): b (MoS for lead, layout, word choice, fiction, and lists):
  2. It is factually accurate and verifiable.
a (references): b (citations to reliable sources): c (OR):
Missing a reference at the end of Early years. [1] - This is a dead link, must be fixed.
  3. It is broad in its coverage.
    a (major aspects): b (focused):
  4. It follows the neutral point of view policy.
    Fair representation without bias:
The lead seems to come across very positively, try and make this less positive (make sure it dosen't become negative though)
  5. It is stable.
    No edit wars, etc.:
  6. It is illustrated by images, where possible and appropriate.
a (images are tagged and non-free images have fair use rationales): b (appropriate use with suitable captions):
The image of the Argentina-Germany game has way too long of a caption that is not really needed. Make it shorter.
  7. Overall:
    Pass/Fail:

I'm going to put this article on hold for seven days until the article has the problems fixed. Mr.Kennedy1 talk guestbook 16:37, 30 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

OK, well I've reduced the image caption and removed the broken ref (it was actually in the 2010 World Cup section). I'm not sure about the lead, though - he's had a short, successful and uncontroversial career, it's hard to know what to write that's not being negative for the sake of it. Looking at other GAs for footballers and it doesn't look atypical. ArtVandelay13 (talk) 12:24, 2 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Right, you shortened the caption down well and removed the broken ref. It's OK to disagree with me as I am new to the reviewing process. I suppose their isn't really anything negative about his career you can say really as he had a brilliant World Cup, Champos league and Bundesliga last season. I moved the reference to the end of the early career section as it covers the last setence too. OK, I am going to say pass. Well done! Mr.Kennedy1 talk guestbook 13:27, 2 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thomas Müller (footballer)Thomas Müller – According to the page view statistics almost 99% of the visitors of Thomas Müller go to Thomas Müller (footballer). It should thus be considered the primary 'Thomas Müller' article. OdinFK (talk) 05:48, 20 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

"namesake"[edit]

"...and earned praise from his namesake, legendary former Bayern and Germany striker Gerd Müller."

How is Gerd Muller his "namesake"? 74.90.255.19 (talk) 21:36, 12 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

to defend or not to defend[edit]

An anon has been reverting a referenced defence by Müller related to suggestions that he had overplayed the situation that resulted in the red card to Pepe. He doesn't seem to want to discuss the edits, so I'll open the discussion. Walter Görlitz (talk) 07:45, 23 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I don't see a sentence implying he overplayed the situation. Also what else would he say even if he had. -Koppapa (talk) 15:49, 23 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
It was his response to the questions of the reporters in the room not a statement in the article. What else would he say? Yes I did. Not every player is a cheat. We even have to assume good faith of others. Walter Görlitz (talk) 16:29, 23 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Third place title at Honours.[edit]

Third place titles are mentioned in many other wikipages of players. I wonder why it isn't mentioned at this player. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:1810:42E:8C00:9A3:746A:9B21:B7C2 (talk) 09:02, 2 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

So you admit it's not all. Thank you. Please supply the pages of those other players or links to show you removed this non-honour. Thanks. Walter Görlitz (talk) 19:08, 2 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not admitting anything. I did not remove any non-honour as third place is considered an honour. For example Bastian Schweinsteiger has a similar honour on it's wikipedia page. For more info about awards I redirect you to the Fifa World cup Award Page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:1810:42E:8C00:9A3:746A:9B21:B7C2 (talk) 20:26, 19 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

My mistake. I should have written, "Please supply the pages of those other players or links to show where you added this non-honour so I can remove them, or show where you have removed them, undoing what never should have been done." 21:12, 19 September 2018 (UTC)
