Notability tag[edit]

I just removed a comment about the article from the article. I had placed a notability tag on this article because I don't see any evidence within the article that this tour is notable. I understand that the artist is notable, but I'm not aware of any precedent showing that a notable artist's tours are automatically notable. The fact that Wikipedia has other articles about tours is meaningless. If I saw one of those articles and it didn't seem to meet notability guidelines, I would probably tag those articles as well. janejellyroll 01:33, 5 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Some examples of good tour articles include Bruce Springsteen with The Seeger Sessions Band Tour, Streisand: The Tour, Music Box Tour, Blonde Ambition Tour, Soul2Soul II Tour 2006 ... would you say that these tour articles are notable? If so, then your problem with this one here is that it isn't as good as those yet. There's a lot that can be said about a Martina McBride tour ... what songs does she play, does she mention Carrie Underwood at all, does she keep to her past no-nonsense, no-costume-changes, it's-the-singing-not-the-flash approach, what kind of band does she have this time around, how long does she play for, who are the opening acts, do they join her on stage later at all, what balance of new material versus old, how much stage patter if any, how is her acclaimed voice holding up, is her audience larger or smaller compared to previous tours, and so on. Remember, the article is just beginning. Wasted Time R 04:12, 7 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I would agree with you that the articles cited are good articles. They contain contain information about how the tour was especially financially successful, critically noteworthy, or covered by the press. I understand why the article is just beginning--that is why I simply tagged it for notability so that the creator or another editor could add additional information as to sources. Any of the information you mentioned above, as long as it wasn't simply based on WP:OR would help establish that this is a notable tour. However, I do notice that most, if not all, if the articles you mentioned above represent concert tours that are much more noteworthy than the "average" tour. I don't know if at this moment, Martina McBride's proposed 2007 tour is notable enough to justify an independent article. janejellyroll 06:18, 7 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The notability tag has been removed. I'm not going to replace it, but I just wanted to say again that I don't feel this concert tour (at least at this time) meet notability guidelines. I feel that it should be merged with Martina McBride. janejellyroll 04:20, 31 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Article renaming[edit]

User:RSzeliga89 wanted to rename this article to Waking Up Laughing Tour, which is fine, but did it in an utterly incorrect manner, getting reverted a couple of times in the process. I've done it with a proper article move. Alas, because Waking Up Laughing Tour was occupied by the botched history, I couldn't move over it (not being an admin), so I moved to The Waking Up Laughing Tour instead and redirected everything to it. If someone wants to file a Requested Move, they can get this to the proper Waking Up Laughing Tour. Wasted Time R 01:11, 24 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You can't list every setlist![edit]

That's hopelessly unencyclopedic. Instead, just give the most standard setlist, and indicate variations, such as different numbers appearing in the encore. An example that does this is The Rolling Stones European Tour 1973#Set list or The_Adventures_of_Mimi_Tour#Setlist. Wasted Time R 03:14, 3 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
