the noises[edit]

Hello, I would like to include a reference to The Noises, which is a band from Spain, with a lot of story behind and they deserve to have their spot on wikipedia. with song like pacifico close to the million listens on Spotify. thanks Franberries22 (talk) 13:34, 6 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Name[edit]

Most sources refer to the islands as "the Noises" or "the Noises group", but the official website of the islands' trust calls them "The Noises". I've left off the capitalised T but am happy to accept suggestions. —Giantflightlessbirds (talk) 08:47, 31 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The New Zealand Geographic Board has the official name of Ōtata as "Otata", but this was gazetted back in 1958 when macrons weren't in use in New Zealand English. Numerous recent reliable sources are using the macronned version now, and I suspect that when NZGB gets around to reassessing the name it will add one too, so I think it's safe to go with it. I’ll add a note that the other spelling is often found, especially in older sources. If someone wants to dispute this, feel free to open a RfC and we can discuss it.
