Notability[edit]

Really, a relatively unknown "indie" folk band is somehow notable enough to have a wikipage, riiiiiiiiiiiight. 0pen$0urce (talk) 13:44, 30 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think that notability is necessarily a criterion, but I do think that this sort of publicist-generated article gives Wikipedia a bad name. (It is also self-defeating, since its apparent insincerity immediately creates doubt as to whether the act in question is really worth hearing.)
