Untitled[edit]

Based on what Dir en grey has on their OHP, I am going to edit the title to "THE MARROW OF A BONE", entirely in capital letters.

If someone has proof otherwise, go ahead and change it back.

Track lengths and composers[edit]

I've noticed that there was talk about not putting up track lengths and composers based on hearsay information and people's rough guesses based on leaked material and shady facts. I still can't help but think that using the three singles' track lengths as close templates for the album versions, as well as the fact that each of the three have listed the lyrics under Kyo's name and the music under Dir en grey. I'm going to wait before adding this information, but I wouldn't doubt if adding that information would be a fair addition. --Jake 23:39, 27 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, at least one of the three singles is confirmed to be appear as a re-recording on the album and while I also expect the credits to go like "Music: Dir en grey / Lyrics: Kyo", there is still no verified information on these things. Album Art[edit]

Track lengths[edit]

I did not engage in the piracy myself. The copy I have is an accidental leak from Warcon, and it was from a public server. However, I understand it isn't entirely "verifiable" at the moment, so I'll hold off until a "verifiable" copy arises. --Jake 01:01, 3 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Genres[edit]

The only genres that need to be mentioned here are "rock" and "metal", if one were to try to add all of the genres that are withing the boundaries of this album, the list would be innumerably long. The album also does not fit the category of "screamo" according to Wikipeda's definition. The article states that "emo" and "screamo" generally refer to the same types of music, and one would not classify the songs on The Marrow of a Bone as such. The confusion can be see in Withering to Death., but this album has few things in common with typical screamo songs. --Jacob 01:28, 13 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Grief notes[edit]

"The song is played with a half note difference from other songs on the album" - I was just wondering if what Die said is being interpreted correctly there? I'm pretty sure Grief is the same tuning as all the songs on the album (C# G# C# F# A# D#), perhaps what he actually means is that they all played half a note difference from eachother, not half a note difference from other songs on the album? Cover[edit]

I assume it is purely coincidental, as the image the cover is derived from is a public domain image from Russia during the period of the famine in the early 1920's (I'm fairly certain). The image is commonly found in school texts and in history books. The bassist of the band has a vague reminiscence of Toshiya though (Non sequitur) --Jacob ^Talk 23:01, 14 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

GA Review[edit]

This review is transcluded from Talk:The Marrow of a Bone/GA1. The edit link for this section can be used to add comments to the review. Hey there, thanks for your work so far on the article. At the moment, it doesn't quite meet GA standards, but I'm going to put it on hold for a week to see if it can be improved. If not, no harm not, you can just renominate it when ready.

There are some fairly significant issues relating to depth. For instance, there's very little information on how the album was produced, what went into it, stuff like that. There's also very little on reception. These sections are crucial to ensuring that all significant aspects of the album are covered. The songs section seems a bit long and convoluted, it probably says more than is necessary about each one.

Furthermore, the sources need work... quite a few of them don't appear to be reliable. Please review WP:V to ensure the sources can be trusted.

Anyways, I'll put this on hold for a week, but if you think it's gonna take longer to get it to GA standards (plenty of good examples to work towards at WP:GA#Music), just give me a yell. Good luck, giggy _(:O) 14:09, 6 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I've put a fair amount of work into the article. All sources within the article are either subpages of the official site, interviews with the band themselves, or professional reviews. The depth is contestable, and I would understand if it fails in that area. The production section may be in need of some further improvement, but it gets a little disorienting working on the same article for so long. I've cut out the section with the song-by-song, hierarchical style, in favor of a general "Style" section. This still uses a rough song-by-song pattern, but I've tried to use more general statements. If this article fails the GA nomination, that is completely okay, as this review has helped the article grow in quality in any case. Thanks! --Jacob ^Talk 00:54, 20 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Both album covers are HUGE (300x300 px is standard), and I think the second is unnecessary. See: WP:NFCC #8, it does not significantly add to the article, and the purpose of identification is achieved by the main cover itself. That Release history table is completely trivial information; no useful understanding can be conveyed by a random collection of release dates. Disc 1 vs Disc 2[edit]
