I made some changes but now I need to go to bed. The page should be factual and even though the Mammals are the greatest musicians since sliced bread, we should keep out many of the superlative adjectives about their music. This is meant to be an encylopedia :)

Comments appreciated, go'night Cat

PS Some one had described Tao as a tall glass of water. Is this some kind of American phase I don't know about or some one being funny? It made me laugh anyway.

Your enthusiasm is understandable, and wonderful, but, as noted, this is an encyclopedia. I've cleaned up the article drastically, removing superfluous remarks, or ones which sounded like a press release. I kept all the actual information (aside from the cream cheese remark. If you're attached to that one, put it under that member's section.) There's rough spots, and based on what you guys have filled in, it might be better to move the band member's individual information to their own page, consult WP:N and proceed as you see fit. Reconsidering the cream cheese line, I think it'd be a stronger fact if we could come up with the name of the guy who did that. Thoughts?Arturus 05:33, 21 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

We obviously thinking on the same lines. I started tidying it up last night before I had to go to bed. I was trying to work with what was already there.

I do think there should be individual pages for each of the band members. If some one starts those, I'll help out!

Some of the links that have been created don't lead anywhere. Those are the ones that show up on the main page in red. I think we should remove these until there is a page for those. Why didn't you leave the names in bold? I liked it that way!

It's pretty standard practice to create links to pages that don't exist. It encourages the creation of those pages because someone can click through and start editing. Wikipedia is full of red links, it's no big deal. If they are going to remain de-linked, album names should be put back into italics, and possibly band names as well. I went through and bolded everything, since I follow a pretty inclusionist policy when I'm editing. The general rule should be that if you think something could stand to have an article, link it, and don't worry about whether or not it actually has an article already. One of the metrics in place is that some users track the most linked to articles which don't exist, and will create those.
Major exception is song titles, it's been ruled in the past that unless you're going to make the article for that song, don't link it. Songs are hard to write good articles for.
At any rate, I definitely want to see the Mammal's own albums linked, and I think there's a strong case for their other groups and albums. Albums are a fairly easy article to write in the basic form, a quick introduction and a track list, plus an albumbox at the side. I might do those later today.
Bolding the names seemed odd to me, although I'm not thoroughly opposed to it. It's an established standard to bold the first appearance of the title, and bolding the names felt like a mimic of that, for something that wasn't the title. Arturus 15:45, 21 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, this is my first time working on a Wikipedia post and I didn't realize the standard procedures. I found the dead links very annoying and would rather wait for the links to be created.

Ruth Ungar[edit]

The Jay Ungar page indicates that Ruth is the daughter of Jay and Molly Mason. The Mammals article indicates that her mother is Lyn Hardy. Could someone correct the contradiction and/or eliminate any speculation. Remember, WP:BLP indicates that we shouldn't post this sort of thing unless it is easily sourced. -MrFizyx 03:49, 22 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for bring that to my attention. I have corrected Jay Ungar's page.Cat 20:38, 22 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Tao is no longer with the band[edit]

The band "hibernated" and reformed without Tao. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Michaelhurwicz (talkcontribs) 08:07, 27 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
