Wide stereo?[edit]

On my CD copy, the music is entirely in one channel, and the vocal is in the other. Is this how it was originally released (in which case it probably ought to be mentioned in the article) or was just a stereo mix created later? — sjorford (talk) 16:59, 19 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There's also a mono mix, which obviously does not have these qualities. So the article should be modified to mention only the stereo mix has the separation. It's inherent to the mix, not the song itself. ExampleOfHumanBeing (talk) 17:26, 4 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Stereo[edit]

The original was on one channel, for the remastered CD version, the song was split in two, with the music on one and the voice on the other.

The Uptight book (1983-ish) quotes someone (either Reed or producer Tom Wilson; don't have the book handy); they deliberately gave it the wide stereo image (at least, for the stereo version) when the album came out. -- Gyrofrog (talk) 18:30, 29 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Short Story Writing Credit[edit]

It says in the main Velvet Underground article that the short story read by John Cale in The Gift was actually written by Cale, and falsely credited to Lou Reed, though other sources, such as the song's article, the White Light/White Heat article, and All Music Guide says that it was written by Reed. Any clarification on this? Corban321 11:43, 30 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Based on credible sources, I've concluded that Reed was, in fact, the author. See the discussion at Talk:The_Velvet_Underground. Malik Shabazz 20:44, 10 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Already seen it. Ha, I should have posted this in that talk page in the first place; I wouldn't have had to wait so long for somebody to notice. Thanks for fixing it, though. Corban321 12:40, 18 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Scepter Studios link[edit]

The link to the Scepter Records page on discogs makes no mention of the Velvet Underground or "The Gift," as such it isn't a useful citation for the recording location. Should be replaced with a reliable source. — Preceding unsigned comment added by R0m23 (talkcontribs) 05:10, 30 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
