Date of development?[edit]
Just thought I'd say that the BoardGameGeek website says that this was invented in 1927 and "copyrighted without publication" in 1927. Of course, there's no reference at all to this (alleged) fact, but might warrant further investigation. --Craw-daddy | T | 20:26, 10 November 2008 (UTC)
- There were several 'cootie' games published before the Schaper game. I've noted the others in the text. My sources have drawn little connection with Schaper's game. ItsLassieTime (talk) 09:54, 24 December 2008 (UTC)
As a child I remember having a very similar game called 'beetle' -this would be around 1966 in the UK - but I have no idea who made it.
Role & Move[edit]
"The Game of Cootie is a children's roll-and-move" - I was just wondering how this could be defined as a roll and move game? I've never played it, but looking at the rules and pictures, don't you just take turns rolling the die and building the cootie? You don't move anywhere as such? Simplification and reduction of parts.[edit]
The current Cootie design has fewer parts than the original or the second version. http://www.flickr.com/photos/14629221@N00/418651459/ In the current version the eyes are a single piece with a sticker and the antenna are a single piece VS two eye and two antenna pieces in the two prior versions. The article was almost exclusively written by the banned serial copyright violator ItsLassieTime, primarily with offline sources that are not easily accessible. I've sent the article to WP:CP where it'll most likely be shrunk to a stub, and as such will be nowhere near GA quality. Wizardman 23:50, 30 August 2023 (UTC)
