About band's name[edit]

Are we really sure about the name? I'm aware those releases are credited as Watch Band but even the official page writes their name as Watchband and in the history [1] it clearly tells the name as Watchband. ~ Elitropia (talk) 09:24, 29 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The name was a composite of two words randomly chosen and put together, possible acid influenced, at Foothill College in Los Altos, CA. Ned Torney and Mark Loomis are credited with the origination. The band always went by Chocolate Watchband...the misinformed marketing group at Tower Records put it down as Chocolate Watch Band. Years later, the original name was re-established when a British or Dutch? duo heard the name and stole it for themselves. In the recording studio, hearing the name Chocolate Watchband, the bands Sixpence and Waterfyrd Traene copied the name idea and joined to become the Strawberry Alarm Clock...DAA/CWB — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.48.183.14 (talk) 12:40, 28 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I added the {POV} tag to the main article. The present piece is full of personal opinion, without a single citation to support any of it. Please see Wikipedia:Reliable sources, Wikipedia:Neutral point of view and Wikipedia:Verifiability before adding further whimsy and fancruft. Actually, as per comments above, it might be a decent starting point to discuss and resolve the differing name interpretations !

The Chocolate Watch Band → The Chocolate Watchband – I think the article needs to be changed back to it's original name. Both Allmusic.com (http://www.allmusic.com/artist/the-chocolate-watchband-p3894) and the band's official website (http://thechocolatewatchband.com/) listed "Watchband" as one word. Forty Four is a comp released by Big Beat in 1984 / its a good one because all tracks are by the original watchband/ not sessioners. TCB: not really a thing of the past :))[edit]

Though I won't put up any youtube links here, may I ask you to search YT for a great video of 'No Way Out', performed live on stage at Portland, OR, in 2007!!! Yes, forty years later they showed that they've still got it.
