Uncited editorializing[edit]

In [1] this edit I removed the phrases "This quote makes no sense at all." and "There is no doubt that the early mutual relationship between Bruce Beresford and Barry Humphries gave unforeseen impetus to both of their careers, beyond the shorelines of Australia." Both of these are opinion, the opinion of a Wikipedia editor, not of a cited source. Moreover they are opnions stated as absolute facts. This is not appropriate as per WP:OR, which says: "The prohibition against OR means that all material added to articles must be attributable to a reliable, published source, even if not actually attributed.[1] The verifiability policy says that an inline citation to a reliable source must be provided for all quotations, and for anything challenged or likely to be challenged—but a source must exist even for material that is never challenged" and "Do not combine material from multiple sources to reach or imply a conclusion not explicitly stated by any of the sources. Similarly, do not combine different parts of one source to reach or imply a conclusion not explicitly stated by the source." and WP:NPOV says: "Usually, articles will contain information about the significant opinions that have been expressed about their subjects. However, these opinions should not be stated in Wikipedia's voice. Rather, they should be attributed in the text to particular sources, or where justified, described as widespread views, etc. The removed text was not, in my view, in conformance with these policies.
