Broken Link

Merging of Tinky Winky, Dipsy, Laa Laa, Po (Teletubby)

These articles on each character are so short I don't believe it is worth them having their own article. Most of the articles are also missing information that is found on the main page, or the stuff on there is just a repeat of what is said here. Outdoor Set - Afterlife

Since filming ended, the fixtures and fittings have been removed from the set, and it appears to have been flooded to form a pond (two fields South of the farmhouse, which is where the postcode points to on the online maps). The paved (gravel?) track leading to the former set still exists, so is the only extant reminder. Until recently, the MS Live Maps view showed the site "in action" - complete with numerous articulated trucks parked at the end of the track. Their image has now been updated as well, but a copy has been preserved at this fansite. A couple of lines explaining the afterlife of the set might be a useful addition to the main article... Meanwhile (FYI - not necessarily for the main article), the farm have found a new way to supplement their income - an aquatics centre (fish and pondplant sales).

Interestingly, I read a rumour somewhere that the set of "In The Night Garden" might be the woodland two fields west of the old Teletubbies set - however, that would evidently need reliable citations before being plonked in that article.Mittfh (talk) 10:51, 14 October 2008 (UTC)

Sun - Jessica Smith

Is this verifiable ? My own daughter is called Jessica Smith, and was about the right age at the right time, and looked almost identical to the Sun Baby. My older son, was convinced it was her for many years. I know it wasn't her but so many people commented on the likeness that maybe it's grown into a myth

I think that they deliberately mispronounce some words on the show to make them sound more childish. I haven't seen an actual episode of Teletubbies so I can't really speak for that but "tubby tustard" does sound vaguely familiar and gets a few hundred google hits. Homosexual - Well Written but needs more specifics

Well done to whoever wrote about the homosexual side of one of the teletubbies. I remember reading many articles about the homosexual teletubbie and even in my psychology university lecture we had a whole assignment on Childrens TV and homosexual characters. Infact the purple coloured icons in Teletubbies, Hoobs etc. are all homosexual in personality who show no preference for the girl character. For our assignment we used many journals and studies as citations which can be used here. For the author of the homosexual section, use JSTOR and other Athens networks for excellent sources that mention teletubbies and childrens tv as a whole in a sexual angle. --93.97.181.187 (talk) 20:29, 24 December 2008 (UTC)

Doctor Who

In Doctor Who, The Master directly reflects while watching an episode of the Teletubbies, thinking they were an group of aliens living on Earth. He commented on the fact the rectangles on their stomachs can act like televisions, "This planet's amazing. Television on their stomachs.". Reference in reality culture

The Living Roof of the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco appears to have a Teletubby Land design to it (it was mentioned in a News thing, but I can't remember where it was from). The coordinates were mentioned as part of the location shooting (see towards the bottom of the Overview section) and seems reasonable within the context of that paragraph. Teletubbies homophobic wording

In the paragraph "Tinky Winky controversy" you can currently find the following two sentences that unfortunately are contextually homophobic:

The sentences are contextually homophobic because Sowińska perceived "promoting homosexuality" as a "negative effect". This has nothing to do with Wikipedia's views or those of this article's author. She suspected the Teletubbies of promoting sexuality, and has been quoted as using the term "negative effect". This is fact. Pronunciation

Family Guy

I can't make edits myself but I am a huge family guy fan and can't let this mistake go unchanged. Lois turned on the Teletubbies for Stewie because he was reading "grown-up books", including Machiavelli's The Prince and The Art of War by Sun Tsu. It was not because he was looking at photo albums. The episode is "A Hero Sits Next Door".

Overly slanted toward sex and politics

After doing a "Find" on this page and searched for 'sex', I found that there are 11 occurrences in the current version, spread through the article. This is my first read of this page, but it seems in my opinion, like a subtle form of vandalism, leaving enough actual informative info to seem legit. Sure, such controversy warrants mention here, but for a -children's show!- it seems that you can't go more than a paragraph or two without reading about it. Looking through the history, it seems to have increased over the years and perhaps gotten a bit out of hand.

I'm not referring to any specific sentence, just the overall direction of it. Whether someone views it as homophobic or pro-gay is not my point, I think that it could be trimmed down to a reasonable amount; anyone agree? If all of that could be condensed into *one* sub-section entitled "Controversy ___ [whatever]", with a reference to that within the Overview or wherever appropriate, it would be much more of encyclopedic quality. If we can cite this to RTL's website or to a reliable third-party source, that would be much better. Teletubbies Everywhere Series?

Shortly after the original Teletubbies series ended in 2001, a spin-off of sorts began airing known as "Teletubbies Everywhere" sometime around 2002. It was a 10-minute program with 52 episodes which had the four Teletubbies placed in front of solid-colored backgrounds in which interactive, educational segments occurred. Following each episode of "Teletubbies Everywhere" were segments from the original 1997-2001 series. Anyone else remember this? I know that this message is rather old, but the reboot has since been verified through news articles cited in the article (this press release from DHX Media themselves goes into detail about how many new episodes are being produced). The reboot has already premiered on BBC in the UK and is set to premiere on a variety of other channels this year (see this article for a list of channels in which it is being aired). The article has the uncited sentence, "a mythological alien species known as "Teletubbies,"". I propose removing the word "alien" because that's dubious. It's not clear (or important) whether they are from earth or not. (But for what it's worth, I always thought they lived on earth and it never occured to me that they might be aliens).
