2nd paragraph?[edit]

What is that second paragraph? Is it a quote from someone; if so, who? --Tom Hulse (talk) 19:35, 3 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your inspired efforts on this page. The quote is from the citation, currently reference number 2, the book chapter by Quentin Wheeler. Sminthopsis84 (talk) 21:09, 3 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Removed citation[edit]

I've removed a citation that was recently added, "Strand M, Panova M (2015). Size of genera – biology or taxonomy? http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/zsc.12087/full". Zoologica Scripta. 44 (1):106-116. {{cite journal}}: External link in |title= (help). Apart from having been added by a signon that appears to belong to the first author, seemingly a violation of WP:COI, my problem is that the citation does not appear to be helpful to a wikipedia reader. It might at some point mention the taxonomic impediment, but the part that is visible to the public deals entirely with a tangentially relevant matter, namely how well Linnaean ranks reflect biological diversity. The size of the task[edit]

There is no mention that the amount of taxonomic work left to be done is in itself a huge impediment to taxonomy. For hyper-diverse groups like arthropods the sheer number of undescribed species is one of the causes of the bottleneck.Zelomorpha (talk) 18:11, 15 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
