whats needed and whats not?

ok to bring this page in line with the generally accepted guidelines of with wikiproject fraternities and sororities I’m about to start taking allot out. For one the massive amount of links, and the "notable alum" that are anything but. a vice mayor of a city is not notable in and of himself and the massive long chapter list, could definitely go to its own separate page. As for the history section it’s generally unreadable filled with abbreviations that are not explained. so I’ll get into that to. This may cause some disconcertion with other editors so I wanted to post my intent here first feel free to discuss any edits i make with me here I’m sure other editors will have their opinions and contribute to the article also. Cheers! Trey (talk) 23:22, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

It looks like you're doing a fine job Trey. —ScouterSig 23:31, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

Ok, di was about to create List of Tau Gamma Phi chapters for that big section but it seems like its more of a list of just schools. does everyone what a Tau Gamma Phi chapter?Trey (talk) 23:36, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

I can't find anything relevant through a google search. —ScouterSig 23:41, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
mk so should it just be deleted?Trey (talk) 23:45, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
ok i cut it. Just in case some on can establish what it is and if there is anything notable about it i will paste the massive thing at the bottom of the page and leave it there for a while so everyone who may be intrested can have a look. If it is every single chapter of the fraternity then i'll take it and make a seperate page for it.Trey (talk) 00:19, 7 December 2007 (UTC)

We are missing a big thing in the affiliated groups section by not including the UPTGP AI "One UP One Triskelion"(University of the Philippines Tau Gamma Phi Alumni Incorporated). This is the home of all UP Alumni Organizations.

I know we have a lot of subgroups (ex. TAA - Triskelion Alumni Association for UPLB Alumni) but something this big like the UPTGP AI should be included in the list.

A Fraternity chapter in general is the lodge-base organizational structure of a fraternity. In Tau Gamma Phi, the Chapter is the basic organizational structure of the fraternity. A Tau Gamma Phi Chapter or better called as Triskelion Chapter is the base organization of the Fraternity as a whole. This is where the fraternal activities and events happen, this where the recruitment starts until an individual becomes a full-pledge member or the so-called full-pledge Triskelion. Each Triskelion Chapter is autonomous and is guided by Ciy/Municipal Council and Provincial Council up to the Regional Council and/or Metropolitan Council they belong, thus, every individual Triskelion has a Chapter of origin where they came from. A Tau Gamma Phi member can also have an affiliated Chapter or Welcoming Chapter where each must comply with the residency requirements and Welcome Rites of the Welcoming Chapter. The difference of the basic Chapter from any other organizational body, is that the Chapters are source of decision in terms of governance, activities, man-power and initial resources. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Adromil (talkcontribs) 09:45, 15 September 2014 (UTC)

Honorary Members in notable alumni section

Why are we including honorary members Caesar Perez and Alipon in the list of notable alumni? duh? they should have a different section. i define honorary as totally different from a true blooded triskelion. they joined the fraternity after 2000 and who can honestly say they know what it means to be a real triskelion? I remember there was even an issue that honorary members are not supposed to be accepted anymore. 167.1.146.100 (talk) 23:30, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

Affwan, Mal Amr?

Naraht and AphiO1925 are wile-wiki-users and belongs to a friendly mission fraternity. Why they are doing things in changing and reverting of shared ideas on discussion page of Tau Gamma Phi article?

Because what you have written on the talk page is inappropriate. The talk page is for discussions on how to improve the article, not for repeated additions of information that may belong in the main article, but appears basically to be written in a way that indicates that it should be left on the talk page and repeats much of the information that is currently there. Discussions like this are what belong on the talk page.
If you would like to add some of the things that you have put on the talk page to the actual Tau Gamma Phi article, here are my suggestions:
  1. Register as a user, this will (after you have been a user for a couple of days, I think) allow you to actually edit the Tau Gamma Phi article.
  2. Post pieces of what you want to add to the main article here for discussion if you want. I'll be happy to express an opinion as a reasonably experienced Wikipedia user and editor
  3. View articles on other Fraternities and Sororities, both those in the Philippines and, because the Wikipedia Pages have been developed further, those in the United States. For example, you may want to take Alpha Phi Alpha as a guide. While I haven't edited it (I don't think), it has been a featured article.
  4. Continue to ask questions here and at the Wikiproject Fraternities and Sororities page.
. I'm glad you asked why, I probably should have made a comment like this earlier.Naraht 11:56, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

Bias

This article is completely biased, does not discuss the real history of the fraternity, as well as the controversies that surround it. I request a complete rewrite or deletion of this article.

I agree. This is a page for the fraternity that is being used for politics and all the benefits that politicians get by using the name of the frat. Like I said, remove those notable alumnis that are not even real Triskelions. We have brothers who have shed a lot more than these people ever have and they are worth mentioning instead of some honorary members that dont even know the real meaning of being a Triskelion. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 167.1.146.100 (talk) 00:24, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

"GK 1 World - One Hope, One Vision, One Global Army Against Poverty".

News source: Ancop GK Bahrain annual report

THE GAWAD Kalinga Bahrain Chapter, ANCOP Gawad Kalinga Bahrain was formally formed under the auspices of the Philippine Embassy on 1 November 2005. Managed by a group of ten well known members of the filipino community in Bahrain which comprises the Executive Committee with no less than HE Ambassador Eduardo Pablo Maglaya and Hon Consul Indhira Banares as members, the group has undertaken several fund raising activities in order to build the first GK Bahrain Village in General Santos City in Southern Philippines. A number of civic concious individuals who believe in the cause of Gawad Kalinga have also donated/pledged funds for the project.

Several groups such as the Triskelion International Bahrain, Fil-Am Group in the Naval Base, and the Couples of Christ have contributed to this cause. The Triskelion held a Filipino Bands Concert for Charity on 17th December 2006 at the Delmon Hotel and part of the proceeds donated to GK. The Fil-Am group also held a party with the aim of raising funds for GK. Last December the various group of the Couples for Christ held their Annual Carole Singing and the proceeds of this also given to GK.

The GK Bahrain held the Salsa Latino Dance event on 3 November 2006 which raise funds for 8 houses.

GK Bahrain will soon complete its first GK Bahrain Village in Baranggay Mabuhay, General Santos City, in Southern Philippines with 40 houses, a basketball court and medical clinic. The inauguration is expected to take place in December 2007.

Upon the completion of GK Bahrain Village, the second village, the site of which is currently finalised, will be started.

Ancop GK Bahrain extends its sincerest thanks and appreciation to all its donors as well as those in one way or another have contributed to the building of the first GK Bahrain Village.

Let us work together to realize our dream of: "GK 1 World - One Hope, One Vision, One Global Army Against Poverty".

One step towards a unified global outreach – the Filipino Strength

"One step towards a unified global outreach – the Filipino Strength" was the theme of the Dental Outreach and On-the-Spot painting contest last November 30, 2007 at the grounds of the Philippine School (Bahrain). The Principal, Dr. Geronimo R. Salem shared his thoughts about the true meaning of outreach by the example of the organizers who were able to spend their precious time and efforts on such activities that benefit the majority of people in all walks of life and to reach out to their "Kababayans" even in a very simple way.

The Triskelions of the TI-Bahrain Coordinating Council would like to congratulate all those who participated in the contest especially the winners and would like to mention in grateful acknowledgement the participation of the Judges, parents, students, Gulf Photographers Network, and the support of our sponsors such as Al Abraaj Restaurant and volunteer dentists Dr. Liza Siwa and Dr. Sonny Dipasupil who are still willing to share and care for the next outreach programs in development.

This event has been a part of the expanded activities of the Triskelion International – Kingdom of Bahrain that started with a Medical Mission at the premises of the POLO/OWWA, Philippine Embassy(Bahrain) last November 9, 2007 and will culminate with a film showing of "Care Home" (www.carehomethemovie.com) next year.

Moreover, a concert with a cause entitled: "Pinoy Bands in Concert 2007" will be held on December 16, 2007 at the poolside of the Delmon International Hotel, Manama, Bahrain.

A meeting was held last Nov.30, 2007 between the Filipino Bands and the Organizers in collaboration with the Philippine Embassy, ANCOP-GK, and the Caravan Group of Hotels and it was agreed that a set of 8 Filipino Bands from different Hotels will perform on this charity event. Posters were distributed and tickets will be available through the bands as follows: Kaktooz Band of Adhari Hotel, Prestige Band of Gulf Hotel, Hip2Soul Band of Ramee International Hotel, Black Dyke Band of Aradous Hotel, High Intenz Band of Windsor Tower Hotel, Immerge Band of Club F1, and Circa5 Band from Delmon Hotel.

This is a project of the Tau Gamma Sigma of the TI-Bahrain in order to gather all Filipinos and other nationalities to support the "Tuloy Aral Program" of the OWWA and free housing/renovations for the poor families in the Philippines initiative of ANCOP-Gawad Kalinga (Bahrain). This is also extended to support the Triskelion Charity Fund. For more information, please contact Sis. Bheng @ 39191372, Sis. Mahalina @ 36305711, or Sis. Empowerment Through Education

We have envisioned an empowered Triskelion Grand Fraternity through education. Northeast Triskelion, Inc. has designed a scholarship program for eligible Triskelions or their children because we believe that through education a Triskelion will have the voice and the capability to help stop poverty, hunger and disease; with education a Triskelion can pioneer his own business for additional source of income. Ultimately, with education a Triskelion can help a whole segment of society to move on and prosper.

NORTHEAST TRISKELIONS INC. is more than brotherhood, camaraderie and handshakes. It is also about the TRISKELION spirit coming alive, an affirmation of our Tenets and our vision of an empowered fraternity coming together and creating opportunity.

Cleanup-Rewrite Tag

I added this tag as this article cites no source, is written with poor quality of writing, and is written in a very self-promoting manner. For example, "Through the years, the Tau Gamma Phi Fraternity has never strayed from its goal" (intro), "Actor Triskelion Baby Jiro Manio, is an award winning child actor especially in his unforgettable performance in Magnifico (film)", "Knowing fully well that peace is a product of strength and not of weakness." (bad sentence--intro). The intro is the worst of the sections as far as writing quality, but the entire history sections and alumni sections are uncited. Please do not remove this tag without posting here. Iheartwiki19 (talk) 08:11, 8 June 2008 (UTC)

Agreed that this article has many issues. I am also concerned at the large amount of unsourced information. Per Wikipedia:Verifiability, all of the redlinked names should be removed, unless sources can be provided to help verify their notability. --Elonka 00:16, 25 November 2008 (UTC)
I agree. I can't say about the content but the self-promoting style of writing is very annoying and not appropriate in an encyclopedia article. I just read the intro and it really discouraged me from reading the rest. Miscellanées (talk) 13:52, 25 February 2009 (UTC)

This article is impossible to keep clean as soon as you clean it up it gets put back. take a week off and so many edits adding things back in are done you can never get it back. Plus its impossible to verify anything anybody says. Nothing is ever cited and change one word and ten thousand anonymous editors descend from the skies to alight upon your head like a rabid pack of fraternity promoting self serving harpies and revert it all back or make it even worse. All that said i'm going to go back and delete alot of red linked stuff like that terrible alum list. I have no way of proving who is an alum or who is not but if you don't have your own wiki page your probably not that notable anyways. As for the history section i have re-wrote that twice already to remove some of the bias and aggrandizing tone of it but it keeps slowly morphing back and besides if you remove all the point of view and bluster you really only have about three sentences left. In other words this is got to be one of the worst articles to deal with on wikipedia. Now that my venting is over I'm going to give it a shot. Trey (talk) 21:31, 12 March 2009 (UTC)

Ok so i took out red links and Non Notables. Removed a bunch of external links. And rewrote the history to be not so pompous and more clear... yeah. anyways still needs a present day section and some clean up editing but at least now i don't think it looks so daunting. anyone want to help. i'm afraid i'm not familiar enough on the subject to write a good present day conclusion of the article blurb.Trey (talk) 21:50, 12 March 2009 (UTC)

Filipino wording

Facts from M.E.: Just in case someone will vandal this article about replacing "Tau" into "tae", please help us to modified that effectively, the reason is that "tae" in Filipino wording means an eliminated waste from the body via rectum, therefore, can't be a subtitute text for a Greek such as "Tau" plus deletion of tagalog word "Tanga" which means crazy.

What happen to this page? Why most of the information have been deleted? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ba399h (talkcontribs) 19:40, 31 March 2009 (UTC)

Action from Mla.: About TGF infos which have been deleted? Lets try to acknowledge those editors for their summary scripts and sharing a simplified informations. We hope then, their objective is for easy reading, avoiding redundancies ("paulit-ulit" in Filipino word or "repeating" in English word). Researchers' can link to the official Triskelions' Grand Fraternity websites if they're interested to learn more details. In other way, they can place their suggestive infos on "discussion page" first while reverting words in article page. In fact, TGF infos are expanded on educational orientation program for the "neos" plus re-orientation membership program for all "refreshers".

Associate

Action from Mla.: Please avoid inserting "basura" a Filipino word on TGF article, it means garbage or trash in English, very easy to associate that text on recycle bin.. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 202.8.252.94 (talk) 03:56, 18 April 2009 (UTC)

on the stated wikipedia of Tau Gamma Phi, on the Founding topic, why is it BASURA phi? i edited that column and i corrected it to Tau Gamma Phi! who are these people editing the TGP history.!

To annoy TGP by putting up "basura" word and those people related them are detracts from satisfaction or somebody undesirable.

Tau Gamma is a civic-minded, peace-loving fraternity

Tau Gamma is a civic-minded, peace-loving fraternity (philstar.com) Updated February 11, 2009 12:00 AM http://www.philstar.com/Article.aspx?articleid=439228

We strongly deplore the report of Mr. Butch Belgica’s Anti-Organized Crime Commission’s labeling of the Tau Gamma Phi as among the most destructive gangs in Metro Manila.

The Brotherhood does not have international ties or connections to different organizations, fraternities worldwide and it stands by itself to be recognized by international communities for its socio civic projects guided by the tenets and codes of conduct of the fraternity.

The Tau Gamma Phi was founded in 1968 at the University of the Philippines Diliman campus and extended its membership in almost universities and colleges all over the Philippines and expanded evenly across the globe, making it the only Philippine founded brotherhood recognized abroad. It Is the only Philippine fraternity recognized by the State of Bahrain as the Philippine Consul can vouch.

The Triskelion Alumni Organization composed mainly of professionals and senior members of the Tau Gamma Phi with councils on every colleges and universities in the Philippines, and with members in the different private companies and government institutions locally (a number of them occupies national and local government positions) and some scattered in different parts of the globe have had their shares of extending aids to the needy and the poor.

The different alumni councils are involved in socio-civic projects such as medical and dental missions, blood letting with the Philippine National Red Cross, feeding of indigents in different barangays nationwide, gift giving to the poor children, scholarships and trainings and a lot more humanitarian projects.

The Triskelion Alumni Organization and the Tau Gamma Phi in general deplore the use of force and violence as a gizmo to solve misunderstandings with different rival fraternities. We believe and encourage all the members of the brotherhood from the school to the community chapters the use of dialogue and diplomacy as the only peaceful solution to a conflict.

The Triskelion alumni organization through its different chapters conducts a regular reorientation seminar of the tenets and code of conducts of the fraternity to all the members, school and community based. — Mayor JOSE BONG TEVES, National Chairman, TRISKELION Alumni Organization (TAO) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.255.156.73 (talk) 21:44, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

"Walk for our Children 2009" http://www.triskelionsingapore.com/main/projects-and-events/110/walk-for-our-children-2009/#more-110

Triskelion Singapore Council was once again invited to participate in this annual charity event in Singapore. This is the second time we’ve graced this event and we are proud to say that we are the FIRST and ONLY Filipino organization to do so. We had the instant-photo taking and printing with the Star Wars characters service and it was once again an instant hit.

It will only get better as this will surely be an annual event for us. This event is just one of the many outreach projects Triskelion Singapore have in line this year. We will always be there to help and support this type of activity, be it Singaporeans or Filipinos. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.17.250.83 (talk) 20:43, 11 August 2009 (UTC)

Frat Members Donate Blood To Battle Dengue

Members of the Tau Gamma Phi Fraternity from different chapters in the city recently joined the battle against dengue by donating blood to the Philippine National Red Cross.

Tau Gamma members from Western Mindanao State University, Ateneo de Zamboanga University, Zamboanga City Polytechnic College, Zamboanga City College of Marine Science and Technology, Summer Hill Chapter, San Roque, Pasonanca, and Baliwasan Chapters participated in the said activity.

Red Cross staff Reanne A. Gampa said the activity is Red Cross’ continuing campaign against dengue. We are conducting this program to prevent further mortality caused by dengue”, she said. Homage to Mother Earth

Volunteers from the Tau Gamma Phi are at Mount Banahaw from April 1, 2012 to April 8, 2012. It's one of 13 organizations that comprise the yearly tasked to assist Holy Week pilgrims, visitors or devotees and ensure they stay within the allowed areas or campsites at the foot of the mountain, which was declared a national park and a protected area in 1941.

Angeles City – A huge coalition of private organizations, companies and concerned individuals is set to launch a sustainable mass campaign for environmental awareness and protection, green development and healthy living. The campaign dubbed as “SUBLI,” a Kapampangan word which literally means “return or to return,” is a homage to Mother Earth – that is, returning what we reaped from Mother Nature by actively working for its protection and regeneration. SUBLI covers activities, programs and proposed projects for environmental awareness, green development and health and wellness.

Representatives of the lead organizations are set to sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) stating their commitment to campaign and work for the protection of the environment. The MOU will also include the community’s call for the passage of various legislations and proposed programs for the local government units in Pampanga, particularly in Angeles City. These legislations include among others, the affirmation of strict compliance of local government units on existing national environmental laws, the proposed creation of Parks and Recreation Office that will yield to the development of family-oriented parks and the adoption of Green Architecture among the new and renovated buildings along the major roads of Angeles City.

Among the SUBLI campaign supporters and contributors are the Pampanga Arts Guild; Sagip-Sapang Balen-Holy Rosary Parish; Alliance for the Development of Central Luzon (ADCL) Save the Trees Movement; Pinoy Gumising ka Movement (PGKM); United Architects of the Philippines-Angeles (UAP); Metro Angeles Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc.
