Hi There[edit]

I've recreated this page, as Tara has proved herself to be notable enough to hold her own Wikipedia article ;). She's spoken at a multitude of conferences, writes a highly influential blog, and her book is being published and shipped this spring.

I dunno if this merits mention here...[edit]

There is a site that describes itself as a "wikipedia-killer".

It claims it has 1,000,000 original articles, contributed by 6,000 notable contributors. But, there are reports that the 6,000 contributors were unaware that they were being listed as contributors. If their works are available on the site, without their knowledge, that strongly implies (1) they are not original; (2) they have been plagarized.

Tara Hunt is listed as one of the contributors. Geo Swan (talk) 22:10, 7 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

January 2010[edit]

Sections have been removed due to poor citations and overly contentious claims. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Adrock31 (talkcontribs) 02:01, 11 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The sentence User:Adrock31 deleted was:

Tara was instrumental in making BarCamp a worldwide phenomenon<ref name="SeattlePI05">{{cite web|url=http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/business/246392_geeks29.html|title=Latest in tech trends: 24-hour brain raves|last=Cook|first=John|date=2005-10-29 |work=Seattle Post-Intelligencer|accessdate=2008-11-04 }}</ref>, with events in over 30 countries in its first year.{{Citation needed|date=November 2008}}

I've re-added the first part of the sentence (as it was cited) and not the latter part (as it wasn't). If you don't like the reference or you think that there's some controversy about it, let's discuss it here first, ok? Dori ❦ (TalkContribsReview) ❦ 02:27, 12 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Citations seems to be misrepresented.[edit]

"Tara was instrumental in making BarCamp a worldwide phenomenon,[7]"

The cited article does not state that she was instrumental. She is described as someone who might participate in a certain conference.

"and has also played (and continues to play) a large part in the growth of the Coworking movement.[4][8]" Again citations seems to be misrepresented. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.91.86.167 (talk) 01:16, 24 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. That first clause is not based at all on the cited source. MartinPoulter (talk) 20:14, 26 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Needs updating[edit]

June 25th, she suggested an update via twitter (retrieved June 26th, 2011). The page also mentions none of her past entrepreneurship success or that she is an entrepreneur in her occupation and that she seems to have been part of 30 start ups and a well cited start up expert. What sources should be used? MartinPoulter (talk) 15:52, 27 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
http://buyosphere.com/about/ and http://ca.linkedin.com/in/missrogue would probably be useful, but I'm not sure if they're appropriate for an encyclopedia article. http://www.randomhouse.com/author/84607/tara-hunt?sort=best_13wk_3month Would be find too, I'm sure. Updated[edit]

I added some references, including fixing up a broken link. Seems like it is impartial and supported by references now. What else needs to be done? -- Ultrasaurus (talk) 01:12, 28 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Relevance of page[edit]

I am not primarily a Wikipedia contributor, so I am not aware of the policies in general. But in my opinion, there does not appear to be any true relevance in Tara's content, apart from the startup/entrepreneurship talks.

Citations tend to be generally quite vague, and the actual content is not always clear. I don't know, but I am not sure this is worth a page. 37.162.60.105 (talk) 19:53, 29 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
