Hoax?[edit]

I don't speak German, but there seems to be some evidence confirming the general thesis of this article. There are many appropriate hits for "Türst" and "Sträggele" in Google Books and Google Scholar.

In the Lucerne is the legend Sträggele the companion of Türst, the wild hunter," Luzerner Fastnacht I don't have the language knowledge to look at this in much further depth, but it seems that the Türst is at the very least a genuine figure in German folk mythology.
