Recording History[edit]

Something not covered in this article is the recording history. I've heard that the first recording was by the "American Recording Society Orchestra" which was a pseudonym used by the Vienna Symphony Orchestra for a series of recordings made under conductor Dean Dixon for the American Recording Society a 1951 non-profit subscription service that offered recordings of classical music by American composers. But I've not located a good source for this fact. If anyone does have a good source for this information it might prove worthwhile adding this history to the article.
